Hello all

Been out of heli's for a while due to illness and just revisiting my Vbar/Vstabi setups and this is driving me nuts so any help appreciated.

Have Vstabi 5.2.3 and Vbar's on 5.2.4 (I know these are a bit out of date but they worked fine before.)

Now trying to setup my Logo 600 to a DX9 so thought I'd do the "clean setup" which has the tabs going across as in the readyheli video.

But when I hit continue/end the screen I get shows "Main Rotor" on left with the sliders (Style/Agility/Gyro gain)

and "Tail rotor" in centre again with sliders, if I hit the little blue hat I just get a list of parameters (RC deadband 5, Acceleration 55 etc) but none of the setup screens as in Mr Mels 4.xx video's.

No precomp graphic or anything like that

Basically the tail gyro is reversed and I have no idea how to reverse it.

Also things like the "load preset" options aren't there. I have two versions of the software one on a Win7 and one on a Win10 both doing the same thing.

It's almost like they took the 4.xx software and removed all the setup options from it

Any help greatly appreciated

Paul

Version 5 uses the wizard exclusively for setup now. I remember being a bit confused going from 4 to 5. But it really is much simpler once you do it a time or two.

In short, there is no 'preset' to load any more. Just go through the wizard and you're done.

if it ain't broke, break it.

Thanks for the quick replies
Unfortunately I'm none the wiser on how I reverse the tail gyro?

Do I do it in the DX9? I see "gyro" is INH by default but as it all works ok in my blades assume that's not it.

Sorry if I'm being a bit dim and missing something obvious

Do you see a tail sub title on the top in the setup menu? If so just click on the tail menu and it should show the tail servo as a picture on that page , and if you click on the servo picture you can change the servo direction. It's not recommended to do so with the transmitter , use the firmware .
Hope this helps.

I just looked at my 5.2.3 software on my older desktop, and it is not materially different than my 5.3.4 software on my new desktop.

To go to setup, just click on the setup button in the upper right right above the Mikado logo. From there start at the left side and first tab and set your receiver type, and bind your receiver to your transmitter. Unless you are just going through a setup check with a previous setup, I would recommend after you start the setup, go through a full, clean setup from scratch.

In the Mikado software, some of your channels will have to be reversed in your transmitter to get the correct movement depiction in the software. It is a requirement to get the directions correct in that transmitter tab. Otherwise no matter what you do down the road, SOMETHING will be messed up.

In the setup function, there is a tab for your tail, and that is where you can reverse the servo direction, assuming you got the correct TX depiction at the start of your setup.

Hope this helps.

unfortunately, my laptop HD crashed. So, I had to scrub some pics from the web. But, this should clear it up:

Click the setup button. This will take you to the setup wizard. First time through, just keep clicking next. If you need to go back later you can make adjustments by just clicking the tab name.

The ONLY adjustments you make in the TX are on the Transm. tab. just make sure that the directions listed here match the movements you make on your radio. Reverse in your TX as needed. ALL other changes are made in software. If you can't get the unit to achieve the proper movements review this step. But, you'll need to re-do/validate every tab to the right of this one if you make changes.

This may be the confusing bit: To change the direction, click the box showing the servo. This will reverse its direction.

if it ain't broke, break it.

Thanks for the replies guys

I've been through all that over and over, done the servo reverse bit which makes the nose follow my stick

It's the gyro which is reversed so if I attempt to fly it spins like a top.

Assume it's something in the DX9 I'm missing as that has lots of submenu jobbies

Stop.....you have to follow the wizard and it's instructions. It is not as simple as reversing the gyro. First the tx has to be calibrated correctly which means the screen has to follow the sticks in the right directions, endpoints set, centers set.

Next you have to pick the correct picture of the gyro orientation in that panel. Pick the one your gyro mount looks like (right side up with the wires to the front or RSU with the wires to the rear, upside down with the wires to the front, etc).

Next in the swash menu, pick the swashplate you have and then plug the servos into the spots on the VBAR according to that picture.

Next, in the servo tab, move your collective stick to the top and watch the servos....then reverse any servo that does not go up.

Lastly (skipping forward here)in the tail section, make sure the tail follows the sticks correctly by standing the tail blades up and down...and look at the TOP blade by standing at the rear of the heli looking towards the front. When standing at the rear of the helicopter, when the rudder stick goes left, the TRAILING edge of the top blade should go left. When the stick goes right, the TRAILING edge of the top blade should go to the right (does not matter what side the tail is on or what way the tail spins, this always works ). If it backwards, reverse it there by clicking the picture.

Now, if all that is done correctly, it will be dead nuts out of the box
Hope this helps....Ron

Thanks Ron will go through it from scratch when I get home.

Just as an aside has anyone got this working with the DX9 and do I need to do anything with the "Gyro" setting in the DX9?

As I mentioned my Blade helis (McBL, nano etc) work fine from the box, just not sure with Vbar

I suspect this is your problem. Clicking the button in the tail tab reverses the gyro. to reverse the direction of your stick input you go back to the Transm. tab and reverse your rudder channel in the dx9 and recalibrate subtrim and endpoints.

As to your last question:

Gyro in the menu of the dx9 is the tail gain channel. By default this is managed only in the Vbar software. So, no you don't have to do anything.

But, if you want tx control of tail gain you can assign it with the 'bank' pulldown menu on the right side of the main menu (not in the setup/wizard area).

I'd suggest getting it flying correctly in the default config first though, since you're already having issues with the tail.

if it ain't broke, break it.

Hello chaps

I do think you sussed it, I went through the setup from scratch and sure enough the tail servo was reversed in the tranny now it "looks" correct but unfortunately unable to test as I damaged one of the tail blades when it went spinny spinny.

This is a logo 600 and everything else was correct so can I assume the precomp is setup correctly?
I seem to remember in Mr Mel's video's you got a graphic which rotated with the nose, I seem to remember having no end of trouble with the tail stepping out on hard inverted before and wonder if I had the precomp incorrect?

Anyroads for now thanks all very much
