Haven't decided yet myself, Still have to justify the expense, time off work ect.....

I have a feeling they aren't going to set any attendance records this year.

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!

I've been wanting to go since forever, but every time I try and get serious to do it, I add up how much it's gonna cost me and then just end up buying heli stuff instead haha. That happened this year already.

I'm not going but hopefully there are enough "Old School" guys left to make it worth going to, who knows maybe in a few years they will change the name to "The Quad convention"---I'm not knocking Quads- just sayin.

Not as expensive as you think.

Tenting is tons of fun, add a cooler and a case of bottle water.
A few showers at AMA gets you through the week and bottle of Aleve for a tired body after sleeping on the ground.
Breakfast is a bargain at the Boy Scout tent. Coffee, egg sandwiches, their burgers are cheap and good too. You get one meal built in, the IRCHA Saturday night dinner. A loaf of bread and a package of bologna and some mustard can keep you going in between. A throw away grill and you can have a steak or burgers one night. Friday night you can snack at the SWARM heli cocktail party. Pack light, plenty of free hats and t-shirts usually, so some shorts a few heli t-shirts, a bar of soap, a towel, toothbrush, sunblock and a jacket you're good to go, use KISS principle and go have fun. An EZE-UP and a cheap SAMS CLUB folding chair and you are camping like a king. A cheap Harbor Freight $99 generator you are really living in high cotton. Anything you need is 2 miles away at WALMART.

Do some volunteer work for IRCHA and wins some great prizes 2 hours at a time.

JUST DO IT.

Don't let the party poopers discourage you, time to break the record again, 1154+

I would not miss it, highlight of my Summer.

Camping is a great way to experience heli's 'round the clock and it is much cheaper.

It's Not as Fun as you might think either.

When you get to a certain age in life,
1. sleeping on the ground,
2. eating a loaf of bread and a package of bologna
Just not as fun, you wake with a sore back, and doesn't sound appetizing.

If I go I'm staying in a clean, air conditioned room and golf cart rental!!

The ircha experience itself is great, hands down the best funfly in the world and a way to see pilots from all over the world show their stuff,

3.
Do some volunteer work for IRCHA and wins some great prizes 2 hours at a time
. {OVER 10 years and 100+ hours never won a thing through volunteering}

The volunteer thing is pretty fishy, they don't give you tickets to put in the raffle yourself,
supposable someone does it for you
Pretty dishonest on ircha management's part.

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!

Not another noisy, smelly harbor freight generator recommendation!

They ruin the experience quickly.

Enjoy things that money can buy IF you don't lose the things money can't buy.

I would love to go, but that's an impossibility now between the cost of taking a week off plus travel expenses plus FAA.

I may as well buy a new kit. Sorry guys I'll have to keep my Canuck buck here in Canada. At least we have our own events

Epic

Epic barely describes my IRCHA experiences. If you love helicopters.. If you've established any friendships over the Web. If you have to know what's new before your next purchase. If you enjoy the presence of like minded people. You need to go. Yes I've been 3 times and won the grand prize and countless giveaways. Should be a bucket list event for every pilot or wanna be pilot (like me). Just my .02, ymmv

FAA is immaterial now. Hobbists are not included so don't use that as an excuse. Rest of it understandable

I don't fly when I go there. I take my lawn chair and rome around watch everyone else fly. Usually pick up some heli items and some fuel. Mostly just try to have a good time.

The economy is in a slump?
Really?

Gas is cheap.
Interest rates are low.
Unemployment figures are the lowest since 2005
Consumer confidence is high.

I'm not going to IRCHA mainly because I don't want to drive 5000 miles round trip and waste 6 days on the road.

But, it has nothing to do with the robust and healthy state of the economy and my outstanding job security.

My sig is not fit for public viewing.

Obviously ICUR1-2 you haven't been paying attention. AMA sent an email out which you prolly didn't get but it has been posted on here I believe but for sure on the other. What the FAA did was set rule for the commercial side but not the hobbists.

So I am willing to bet we don't see one FAA person there

You only live once. If you can swing the cost and have a few friends going. You should go at least once. Last year I had a blast! We stayed almost a full week.

I've never been. I would like to be able to attend at some point. Every funfly in my region that I grumble about driving to and make up excuses why I should not attend ends up being a blast once I go. I'm sure Ircha would be that x10. Also, actually meeting people I have gotten to know on here has been one of the coolest things for me. I think everyone who attends should have their RunRyder handle on a name tag
