Dont' feel bad, I have a TREX 700E that's probably Gen 2 that hasn't ever been more than hovered. If it's worth $500.00 I'd be surprised...

Like everything it goes away then it picks back up. Many people go away for personal reason and come back when they are in the good and want to have that type of fun again... To me electrics are ok but the short time that I can fly on a battery pack makes it costly and impractical to me... In my gasser is I want to fly five minutes and sit it down that's my option but I can put it back in the air without have to change a battery.

Some people don't like the smell.. Doorman and I once tried Coleman and 2 stroke on my Predator SE it ran great but the Performance was a little less but it worked. Also when running that type fuel you store it in your house without the little woman saying anything about the smell..

For me, the idea of having 20 or 30 minutes or more flight time is the draw. If I had two working brain cells (well, first of all I wouldn't be in this hobby ) then I would have bought a Gasser from the get go. But I keep getting seduced by these sexy electrics. Now that I have a fleet of electrics (that, by the way, evidently aren't worth anything either), I keep looking for that Gasser that I can afford (which as we all know is the biggest joke in Heli flying...Afford it? Yeah right).. We're like Heroin addicts, the only difference is that I understand you can kick the Heroin addiction...

I know that there's a gasser in my future, I just don't know when that's going to be...Imagine, No battery charging (except for the rx pack), no $100.00+ batteries every so often... It would be like heaven! 2 bucks at the gas station and fly all week!

Add a Jewel generator to your gasser and you can kiss charging that rx pack goodbye also

That's funny! Wish I had two brain cells!

Do you have the Agile 7.2???

I had an Agile 7.2 electric...I converted it to a gasser, and now I get 16 minute flight times versus the boring fast 5 minutes.

No, I don't have an Agile, but I do have a Trex 700 (a V2 with the White Side strips) I think Helibug (I KNOW Helibug) has a conversion for it so that's a possibility. I'd like to find something all done, but then it's a premium... I don't want to fly anything smaller than a 500/550 and preferably 600 and up. I think the TREX 700 would be a good candidate for a conversion... I Also have a Hirobo Freya 90 that might be a good candidate too. I just think that it would be hard to find the right components for such an old bird. Better to just leave it a Nitro.

since you're going to "pimp up" your T700 did you consider stretching it to 800 size?
I did that to my electric T700 and simply love it...

Passing of an era for me. Been into gassers for many years. I suppose I might have been, and might still be, considered somewhat of an expert. I certainly know all the tips and tricks of the trade.

Having been in the heli hobby for going on 10 years and been in the RC hobby for about 26, I feel fairly confident in stating I am still a plane guy at heart.

Probably still keep an electric heli just to play around with, but I find I fly much less now days. Not necessarily because I don't like the hobby but more because I just have too many hobbies and this one has been relegated to second fiddle. When I do fly, I seem to enjoy planes better.

My roots are in planes, and even though I got really heavy into helis for a while, they just haven't held my interest like the planes do.

I think I still just prefer simple. I know, I can fly a gasser or any heli like a plane, but it's still just not the same. I can always look back and say I've done it to the full extent and enjoyed every minute of it with no regrets.

Now I move on and that's that.

Gassers Rule, Nitros Drool, Electrics...uhhh...Joule?

No conversion for me

I spoke to Ail from Helibug and unfortunately, they DON'T have a conversion for my 700e V2. So for now, I'm stuck with it in Electric Version (which isn't the worst thing in the world, but close to it

Am now in the process of getting all my birds airworthy (except for my 450's... I'm going to set all my 450's on fire....)

So far, my Goblin 500 flies great (BD3sx)
My Compass Atom 500 has finally gotten the tail sorted out (Spirit Pro)
My TREX 550 is like a coaxial (WOOKONG H)
My TREX 600 Pro is next in line for a good going over (Also WOOKONG H)
My TREX 700 will get converted to a BD3SX from the Mini V Bar
My Compass warp is fine with a Skookum 540.
and my TREX 500 PRO (Flybar) is going to sit for a while until I decide what to do... Maybe sell all of them (except for my Goblin) and get a Gasser...If I sell them all, I might just have enough to get a gasser!
