I have installed my first AR7210BX on my Blade 450X and I must say my first flight with it was...well let's just say there is a slight learning curve. I did some strange things and so did the helicopter.

I first assigned the SAFE mode to switch E which is a three position switch because I was using switch A for other stuff on my other birds and wanted to keep my TX standard for all. I think that was mistake because the three position switch caused some issues even though I had it set for 0, 65, 65. So, now I am using switch A for SAFE.

And the 450 did some strange things when I activated SAFE, like when it was hovering in SAFE mode the tail drooped down about 15 degrees. But it did flip the bird about of an inverted hover pretty good and quick just before that.

Then I let it get too far away and could not tell what the heck it was doing and crashed it. So it's back to the workbench.

Just curious how the AR7210BX is working for you in SAFE Mode with Collective?

Sorry about the crash. They do recommend that you fly the helicopter several times to get it dialed in before trying attitude control. Have you read the V4 addendum? There are Subtle difference's in the V4 set up. Just saying...

Gravity's a bitch ant it?

I have not read it. Where can it be obtained?

tgalo,

Thanks for that link. While it spends a lot of time on BEASTX, there are, as you stated, some interesting tips. One tip that is a little scary however is that you must do the complete setup of everything else before you activate SAFE technology. OK, maybe the first time. But what about if you make a simple change to the setup down the road? Does that mean you have to turn off SAFE and then activate it again? Or do you have to reset the AR7210BX and do the whole heli setup again?

Seems to me the thing should be smart enough to grab all the setup information every time you boot it up before you fly.

I've used the "SAFE" function in 3D mode on my AR7210BX in a Thunder Tiger e700 and it works beautifully.

When properly set up and you understand the confines in which it can operate successfully, it becomes an extra level of recovery that works well. I can't say that it will save the model every time, but it will try.
