You have to have the battery connected in order for it to power up the receiver through the board before you can calibrate the transmitter. Not just the USB plugged in to the CC3D.

In addition to that, you have to make sure the main port of your CC3D is configured if you're using sbus or another is set in the hardware configuration tab and click save and cycle the power and USB connection.
