Thank you guys for all the input- I think I've decided to go the zenoah route after reading all the opinions. As of now I have a few options from other reputable members on engines I'm considering. Both are very close is price so it is more a decision on what would be a better engine for my needs. The first is a NIB stock unmodified g270rc. The second is a used stock g230rc. For the record, when I said something I could be more rough with, I guess I should have said more rough than you can be with a scale fuse (which is veeery gentle). I am just a sport flier with no 3d aspirations as of yet. I am still undecided on the airframe but am currently weighing a used Whiplash I have found against the Helibug conversion for my Raptor. Again, both of these airframe options work out to a very similar price.

Jack,

If you go for the used Whiplash, make sure to order this replacement OWB from MA Germany:

https://www.miniatureaircraftusa.co...sprague-bearing

email them for a shipped price, when I got mine it was $34 plus $5 or 6 to ship.

This will not last forever but you will get more time out of it than the stock bearing. The stock bearing might start slipping intermittently from day 1, this replacement will be smooth as silk for a while but one day after 100 flights or so might start to slip - if it does AUTO down and replace it - once it starts to slip sooner or later it will lock up and grenade your maingear. (I got around 80 flights on my first one, Raja has gotten 100-200 flights on them. The special oil they offer may help longevity - the one I had fail at 80 flights I had lubed with Redline ATF)

Other than that the Whiplash is a great flying heli. Very precise and more locked in feeling than the TRex and Raptor conversions. Auto performance is OK but a little less floaty than some other 700s.

I would opt for the G270, nice all around engine.

270

Make sure you send that motor to get modified, stock is not good to run as is. There are different price points, there is a pro plus or a 3D max, pro plus will be perfectly smooth and cheaper to do, just not cylinder port modified for increased power.

-=>Raja.
