I think the over-riding theme of this topic is, "you play with fire you're going to get burned" maybe not always but you will.

Re-assurances regarding my brothers state of existence have become evident through happenstance (sensitive persons involved) and I've got to live while accepting some things have ended.

Change in the weather, yesterday afternoon the sole tree in the middle of the back yard which has taken down one or another of my 450/300 many times over the years. A tiny miscalculation resulted in a blade clipping a pruned branch of it, it'll never be defeated by a 450. Ohh I was flying so well with a few unintentional sideways tic tocs the other day and doing wall stops under a big pine and immediately beside a neighbors garage with absolute precision, flying closely to all other yard features without a care in the world (though it was tense at times I'll admit). Yesterday, come down after flying over the house and begin a turn around the tree perimeter, but just that much too close and CRACK, helis on the ground. Two servo gears ruined, badly bent feathering shaft, one blade tip, and surprisingly nothing else broken. Only the half inch tip section of one blade was broken so the heli must have caught that only and stopped (throttle hold is your friend). No matter, got it fixed and flew again shortly before dark.

Amusing stuff.

Sand? forget it, there's a wide open beach near where I live and I often ponder what it would be like to fly there (not worth the sandy mess in the heli). Tall grassy fields are few but I know of a good one not far. I never like nor have to fly over asphalt or concrete when all other flight spaces available are fields with cut or uncut grass and/or weeds.

well psych me out, was flying my pro 450 customized out back earlier today, used up all the available airspace and came under the eastward pine, clipped some pine branches and rotor slowed down completely. I flick th and hear a clunk from a blade hitting the canopy, heard it all at the same time the 450 hit the branches and went sideways in the air from twisting under, then it hits the ground 10ft below.

HOLEEEEEEEEE

heli's on it's side on the dry cut grass with blades folded together. Check it over, unfold the blades, inspect for obvious signs of breakage and pick it up to bring it over where the thing can be spooled for bent shafts of any kind, no? you got to be kidding. Go over to a better spot to take off and to be challenging decide to lift off NOSE IN. A little worried I spool it up nose in and watch for evil tendencies in tilting over, none to mention as I fully get it spooled and s-l-o-w-l-y lift it from the grass into a very stable and beautiful hover, better than nose out lift offs. Wow, I never thought I had that in me and later like an hour ago now got the best flight in the back yard ever flying close to everything while holding it from clipping anything for it's life and bother (to repair in any form). So tenacious, so quick and controlled while flying in a tight limited space, flying in a few places I would not dare risk really however it was more than worth it (hint dangerous to heli), BEST FLIGHT in the back yard EVER, sweet.

Heyo, we fly these little high tech toys to put a smile on our faces for witnessing a wonder of rc helis technology. When you reach a certain point in your experience where your fully aware of everything the heli is doing, that's when you can let the heli out for a real exciting time, sport 3d or attempting, nothing can stop you from taking the leap of faith to higher intensity flying.

NO crash damage, today, nose in lift off with a very smooth controlled take off, very exciting. I'll get to the 700's when there's time and some healthy funds, got two of them and thinking of going 800 or larger for the sake of it with one,

anyway, true stories.

Have fun fans and ignores alike, I definitely get "it" now. All my helis are improved over stock with special personal tunings/advantages applied, definitely working, definitely worth the past aggravations (like getting banned from hf for sticking my neck out on certain topics the strict domain of hf resident "experts" ) not stock iterations. I'll let it be known I forgot what topics on the other site were the cause of concern when I did a recent search on a related topic and got the links to the one's of a year ago, man did I take offense to be called thupid, and you would too.
