Stay away from Century models unless you like to spend your time tinkering
plus good luck getting parts for it. Century is out of the heli game.

I have no first hand experience with Century models but what ICUR1-2 said seems to be what I hear a lot.

You need to ask yourself, is it worth it for the accessories on this model?

Stay away from Century...
Parts support sucks, the service sucks and they are doing away with the Heli side of things and going drone.

I know it sounds like a good deal, but in the long run its not worth the frustration dealing with substandard quality of parts.

worse is what a badly vibrating gasser does to the electronics over a short period of time, no telling what gremlins have accumulated in them due to gasser life. You may have top end electronics in it that are no longer in good shape and not worth half what they were when new.

You'll likely spend equal amounts of time flying as with tinkering, tear down, re-builds and constant testing trying to solve strange wobbles and vibrations that occur sometimes overnight...

Although Im not a big fan of conversions you better off saving your money and buy a Goblin gasser or even a Helibug...much better parts support and service, and e-mails answered by people that speak English as their first language.

IMHO...the only way to get a Radical to fly right is on a sim....

There are many different versions of the Radikal G-30, from their relatively basic sport unit with G-10 frames, belt drive tail, GRP molded FB head etc., that was priced well below any of the other gassers on the market. To expect it to be in the same quality class as them would be a little unfair.

On the other hand, the top of the line Carbon G30V2/FBL that has a full Carbon Fiber frame set, CNC aluminum bearing seats and frame stiffeners, torque tube drive, HD clutch and cooling system, full CNC FBL rotor head etc. etc. was is the same price range as the others. So this would be a more fair comparison.

What version is yours?

old nitroman, you should take some time searching the heli sights for complaints, see what they are, with that, between RR and FH there are not that many complaints for the V2 that I know of,

you could buy that heli to get you started, if you need parts or crash you can buy a new V2 kit for $400 and have all the parts you need and extras

$400 for a kit should give you some idea as to the quality of those parts ...and consider that they are STILL making a profit on a $400 box of parts.

Century CNC = Child numbered (step 1, step 2, step 3...) control on wornout machining equipment. They use the term like CNC as to equate it to automatic quality which its not...considering the visibly horrible runout Ive seen on gears, clutches etc, I doubt they are using any sort of quality machining center.

but enough of that.

you've been warned.

Kinda sad I remember back when I first was looking at getting into helis and I always wanted a predator gasser. I thought century was the best, and this was not too long ago. Maybe 5 years or so. Shows what I knew. Old nitroman, I think looking into MA is a wise choice. I have been contemplating my next gasser and the Whiplash is currently top on my list. I have seen a few up close and the parts quality/fit finish is second to none.

OMG

The whiplash flies awesome, I just came home from a beautiful flying day and that machine flies like its on rails, wonderful time at the field flying to the beat of music, 1165 flights to date best 3D gasser in all the 4 that I have. The others are very good don't get me wrong, but I'll say for 3D this one is the most locked in.

Very interesting

I noticed alot of things in that video.

First off, let me say they all fly "pretty good" though some last alot longer than others.

Second, and on the points of the video:

That guy doesn't seem to be a gasser pilot, he may be just a 3D pilot trying to show off the helicopter for the guy taking the video because:

1) Look at the way he starts the helicopter, that's not the right way to start gassers with pull starts.

2) He is bogging the helicopter in flight most of the time, does not have collective management skills that a seasoned 3D gasser pilot would.

3) Something happens to the motor about 3 minutes into the flight, it cuts out and starts cutting out briefly (misfire) in flight afterwards, which causes him to land right away.

4) He carries the helicopter with the hot muffler on his leg side, if he was wearing shorts he would be screaming. You learn as a gasser pilot to always put the hot muffler on the other side. My point along with the other 3 above why he may be an electric heli pilot full time.
