I have had a few lucky days but I am still trying to rap my head around how this heli survived. I have been working out the kinks with a Logo 480 and it is finally dialed in after 10 or so flights. Working it pretty hard with lots of tic tocks about 15 feet up. I hear the motor slow and push the heli to level. I am also feeding in negative to get it close to the ground but the response is not there. It slowly descends with the blade speed decreasing. About 2 feet above the ground the heli drops due to lack of headspeed. I was over to the heli and the VBAR and RX are depowered. The field is soft due to the rain. There is NO damage at all. The negative battery lead is separated from the EC5. There is solider splashed on the frame of the heli. There must have been a cold joint that heated up enough to melt the solider. Anyone else had one of these?

I have a 3D heli, I don't understand why it doesn't do 3D

Sounds like you need a better solder job done. I never trust a factory joint and resolver them all.

Ron you are correct. Thanks for the help on this heli too. I got the wobble out with correct shims in the head and replaced the bad gyro and hard mounted the servo for a rock solid tail. It flies like a champ. The other problem was that I am used to Logo 400SE head speeds which were to slow for a good tail.

This happens all the time at our field.
The EC5 comes unsoldered or the ESC dies or the BEC fries. One guy had is ECS catch on fire in mid-flight.
And, most people don't have your luck.

I use a OptiPower Ultra-Guard 430 on my Goblin 380 and Trex 600.

I've seen the Ultra-Guard save other people's helis at least 10 times due to bad things happening to the normal flight system power.

One guy flew his Logo 600 and the Ultra-Guard's super bright white LED were blinking every time he did a cyclic input.
It tuned out he had miswired the BEC power to his VBAR and all the power to the servos was going through 1 servo lead.
Without the Ultra-Gurad, he would have taken off and on the first hard flip, the FBL would have browned out and a crash.

My sig is not fit for public viewing.

Nice. I have a few Ultra Gaurds but I only have them on the bigger helis. I have also had a EC5 come loose but I had a separate battery wired into the Kontronik so I still had control.

I also have come across very bad soldering on lipo' connectors. With popularity when demand goes up quality goes down. It can be a waste replacing every suspect connector but the result of a disconnected lipo can be very costly and disturbing on a big machine unlike the op's experience, make you want to take up quads or truggys or something.
