Did you realize that the FAA was chasing after the father and son in Connecticut for the flame thrower turkey and the gun mounted on a drone?

Yes I am flying drones. Latest is the Yuneec Typhoon H. Amazing machine. Still love my helis but haven't flown them in a long time. Right now having fun with long distance flights (it is a rush for sure) and aerial photography. No crashing, no maintenance, just charge and fly.

They should have regulated the equipment not the models
if it weren't for FPV there would not be any problems with multi rotor
with out FPV, drones can't exist unless someone else drives while you fly

they should have differentiated between LOS ( line of sight) and FPV .

I'm not so sure. I don't see fpv as the main problem. I think GPS and the fly by itself electronics are the biggest problem.

But for those of us that love flying and video/photography it's the ultimate hobby
I have been and built from 450 to gasser 700 and 700 size electrics and then built many multirotors trying to perfect airial photography as a hobby. The Phantom 3 has ended my search for a stable and vibration free photography. It's a hobby and for my purpose the multirotors have hit the mark. I still have many helicopters, but they are just shelf queens now.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

I tried to get excited about multi rotor craft. It just did not appeal to me. I dont get excited about looking at a momitor to fly....as fpv does. Video.....just like thousands before yours. Nobody flys them line of sight because their boring....and fpv is just tv......should be called fptv ....first person television.....and really the video is crappy at best. Not the HD quality ,but the content , its just is bad. Sure evey once in a awhile a pro crew gets great shots....but the rest of you guys.....c'mon.... I will stick to helis and watch it with my own eyes.....

I guess that is what I think of your family pictures. Come on guy, until you get it, you don't get it. Bagging on others passion is rather off putting. A person does not have to be Ansel Adams to take a quality photo. Do you actually think raw footage can be compared to edited movie? It is just too bad that you cannot enjoy someone else enjoying themselves.

I got into this hobby to put cameras on helicopters. Even with the detour through planes, I enjoy all aspects of RC. I still have a love of photography. Now I like banging the sticks a bit too.

oddly, multis don't suffer from size biases among fellow hobbyists. In the rc heli world if your flying no larger than a 500 you ain't got it, in the quad world smaller fpv is more fun that bigger and no one is prejudiced for a small multi.

regarding boredom quotients of helis and quads, it's all what you make it however multis are the darling of aerial vid/cam capturers.

There was a time last year I would pass a park that had several undercut trees and thought how cool it would be to fly my 300 between them like slalom gates, then I actually navigated a hill with trees on a snowboard that had to be slalom'd. A multi would free up the perspective while navigating obstacles much less perilously to both myself and a heli.

But you run into the problem of just sitting there doing absolutely nothing while your zoned out either watching the fpv play, still you can't have that ease of use with rc helis.

I'd say definitely a mutli is on the table for me since it involves more than the obvious. Multis are much less imposing, predictable, purposed mainly for cam use where it fits in my plans, otherwise I would fly only rc helis since there's a slew of 3d orientation challenges to master.

I stayed away from my helis for the better part of a month recently and my level of flight control skills haven't suffered, probably got better.

I didnt. No one told you you cant do it. Its not for me. Which hobby came first for you? Helis or Cameras....I think that has a lot to do with how people approch the hobby. I fly and taking videos is a secondary....some take videos and fly.....

Once you learn you won't forget but you may not be as confident after a while of not flying at all.
