I have just recently upgraded my 750 1.31 software. I want to increase the cyclic rates (respond faster.) What parameter do I adjust for this?

2nd Issue is I have the gov. setup with my 2 head speeds, but won't work when I turn on idle up? seems to kick on only when I move the stick to 3/4 stick?

I am using a futaba 14 SG transmitter, This is CG750 and 14SG are both brand new setups on this model.

any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Need some more info:

1. What are swash rates? How many degrees does that equal?
2. What flight mode?
3. Any dual rates or expo set in tx?

Gov

1. Are you using the gov menu on 14 sg?
2. Did you sync it with the 750?
3. Did you verify on the 750 that all functions are working and changing with changes in the flt mode switch?

Thanks

Tim,

1. 50% aprox 7 Degrees
2. flight mode 3
3. no dual rate or expo.

Gov.

1. yes
2. the gy notices my 3 different head speeds when I am in normal and idle 1&2
3. Seem to be following the parameters on the both the tx and gyro.

I also set the low and high stick positions on the gov.

thanks,

Rich

V1.31 needs the cyclic pitch needs to be set to 9 or 10 degrees between 50 and 70% swash afr settings number one. If that then seems to much reduce the feel using your tx dual rates.

Please confirm if you are using stick switching that the gov says on some where around 25 to 30% on your throttle curve. Also make sure that you have v curves set in idle 1 & 2.

1. 50% aprox 7 Degrees
>>Nowhere near enough for both good cyclic rate and correct system performance. Increase the swash AFR's to produce at least 9 degrees of static cyclic. Keep AIL and ELE swash AFR's the same.
2. flight mode 3
>>fine
3. no dual rate or expo.
>>This may change after you increase the cyclic rates. Leave the defaut expo in the 750 alone and tune any extra desired in the transmitter.

You would help yourself a great deal by downloading and reading in its entirety the revised CGY750 1.31 manual and viewing Nick Maxwell's video, both of which are available at futabarc.com . Any questions that persist please do ask.

Got the cyclic feel figured out.

Still having problems with the gov. I have remapped the throttle to channel 12 since i run a switch glow to channel 3. can't get the gov. to engage? I look on the CYG and when I click through idle up 1 and 2 it shows the different RPMs on CYG but does not engage the gov?

any suggestions?

When you turn the CGY750 on, is there a little flashing triangle with a ! in the middle?

If so, the CGY isn't sensing Governor off/low throttle.

Typically, I've seen this caused by people having the On/Off switch turned on in the governor menu, and then having their start up switch positions set to where the governor is "on".

This causes the CGY to think you want it to start governing, but since it knows you just turned it on, it won't govern until it senses governor "off" so you don't spool up in your face.

At what percentage does the governor activate? In other words where did you set the percentage to activate with the stick?

To hover is divine, the alternative is rather PLANE.

Calibrate high and low throttle points in the unit?
Its funny because my futaba 8fgh did the same thing with my gov. Well might have been the gov also. Wouldn't engage sometimes. But when it works it works.

It turns on around 15-20% throttle in normal mode and right away in idle up 1 & 2?

I never had any problem with my 8fg radio, but cannot get it to work on my 14SG.

I have to ask the following although I "may" already know the answer:

If an user follows the recomended mechanical servo setup for the helicopter, i.e. recomended servo arm radius, pushrods etc, and when adjusting the AFR for 8-10degrees of cyclic, the AFR is only 50%.

Do one proceeds and test flies the model?

or

One deviates and reduces the servo wheels/arms radius to obtain a more reasonable AFR?

In other words, will the low AFR percentage affect the 750 control resolution and flight characteristics. I ask because some units don't seem to be as affected as others.

8d at 50: Increase to 60 for 9-10d and go fly.
10d at 50: I would try to go in a little on the wheels if the model allows to allow for a bit hiher AFR for that amount of cyclic pitch.

Lotsa wiggle room. 1.3 will tolerate 50-70% AFR for the desired 9-10 of cyclic pitch.

My budd Flying Brian Sylphide is at 10 @ 50%. Told him initially to try it and see how she behaves. Using 1.3

Been hunting my mind since.

Separate issue:
He's yet to try it as the tail does not seem to center on AVCS for some weird reason. All commands from ch4 @ zero output. BLS256 properly set at 760us. Servo arm does center when set on rate mode, but it just drifts continuosly on bench when on hold AVCS.

Any ideas?

That is a normal behavior of AVCS. If you move the rudder stick the gyro expects to see a movement, it will keep that position or increase rudder to get the movement going.

Btw, on the bench, when you move your rudder stick fast left right left right it wil re-center. That is specific for what you notice.

No, you are not understanding what I said.

The rudder drifts to the same side all the time REGARDLESS of no, or any stick movement after initialization, even when commanded in the opposite direction, it slowly drifts to the other side and stays at the end position.

We checked for any mixing, bleeding into chnnel 4 and everything indicates zero output. the servo should not be drifting RIGHT if one commands left. On normal mode, there is no drift
AND Yes,the BLS256 is set to 760us.

He's going to check with a second CGY750...

Yep sounds broke to me. Maybe its got an inner ear problem and its dizzy lol!

My 750s with 1.31 don't do that so maybe a problem with the unit...

Chago,
If the rudder servo will center after cycling the stick and the starts moving again, the gyro is seeing a rudder signal that is not centered, perhaps from bad transmitter pot. My model will sit as longer as I want on the bench in AVCS, and the rudder does not drift. It is not normal behavior for a Futaba gyro operating with a cleanly centered and stable channel.

Ben Minor

Addendum: Chago, once it goes hard right, will it respond at all to a left stick command? Can you bind his model to your transmitter and replicate the behavior?

Is not a hard right movement, but a slow drift until it reaches the set endpoint.

This was done with Brian's transmitter. Seems like this is only happening with only one of his CGY750. He has 3 of them. One transmitter.
Been trying to trouble shoot it over the phone, so I hope he's not missing something obvious. I previously set a Bavarian Demon with the same TX and did not commanded any drift, so I would not suspect is the transmitter.

The servo will go to the opposite side if commanded, but it will drift back opposite. Again, it holds center fine when in normal mode.

Funny thing is a while back, I've seen this same thing with one of his GY701 do the same with my transmitter, but it did not drift with his.

Bad unit?
