Here are pics of my Venture Little Bird project. I know this subject has been around for a while but I have not seen any Venture Pics. It's fitting in very well and I hope to have the cockpit and skids mounted soon. Almost ready for flight!! More pics in my gallery. I will post more pics as I progress.Sealerman gave me the ideas as he had done one a while back. I still have the CCPM control rods to deal with.

Hi Cp8

Beautiful job, Mount the 2 top CCPM servos from the inside out this will give you the clearence you will need to fit the push rods inside the fuselage. I used a flexabe push rod for the tail and taped it to the tail boom and it fit inside the plastic boom of the toy heli. I mounted the fuel tank next to the door so I can see how much fuel I have. You will also need to cut a hole in the bottom of the heli and extend the cooling scroud down to it or the motor will over heat, believe me.

Hi CP8,

I think you mounted the mechanics to far forward in the fuselage. I noticed in your pics that the main shaft is forward of the panel line on the top of the fuselage, I cut in to the top of the fuselage and my main shaft is about 1/4 inch in front of the top panel line. I also cut away the plastic in front of the forward CCPM servo leaving only the mount area. The servo will be to far into the cockpit the way you have it now. I used the rubber skid mount that came with the Venture to mount the front of the mechanics to the floor, and I used a small Hatori muffler.

Good Luck

Question..what are you using to duct the exhaust out? It looks like heater hose from the pics...

Thanks..

Well I may be too far into the project to move my mechanics back further. Anyway I already cut the cockpit to allow for the intrusion. I think it will still fly OK but I do have more mechanics into my cockpit. To mount the side CCPM servos I pulled the main shaft, removed the front CCPM ball link, then loosened the upper frame screws split the frame open on top just enough to insert the servos inside the frame from the front so I could mount them from the inside out. This worked great as you said and gave me clearance for the rear control rods inside the fuse. Pretty sweet! I have a 1.5" piece of 3/8 fuel line inside of the 3/4" heater hose to route my exhaust back. I think it will work OK.

Hi CP8

Do you need any ideas on how to keep it cool.

I think it is already way Cool!! But yes actually, how do you extend the fan shroud out to the bottom? I am using 60 size MAS skids. Is there enough support in the original skid/screw setup on the body to support the weight or are your skids mounted thru to the mechanics somehow?

She Flies!

I can't believe the stabe hover after a little trim tweaking and pitch/curve setting! It flies almost like my original Venture did! Seems the Os .32 put out ample power at least for scale flying. I'll take it to the field for a real test and see if it overheats! Thanks again for all your tips!

Looks Great cp8 !

Wow ! Looks good ! Where do you get the fuselage you used ? I've got a Venture that may be retiring as my primary heli shortly......and a scale conversion would be perfect !

Thanks.

Search around on the web a little and you will find them. There are some other threads here on RR that give more links and excellent advice on using other mechanics. Ebay always seem to have a few for sale.I paid full price but got exactly what I wanted when I wanted them.

Hi,

CP8 you did a great job, have fun with it just keep an eye on the engine temp. Don't assume it's ok, run the heli and check the temp because you will lose power if it over heats and you will go in hard, not that it ever happened to me but I've been told. You have to use 30% heli fuel.
Kevinb try Small blue planet on the web thats where I got mine, take a look at the Fire Rescue version it's harder to find but it looks great in the air. The toy is only about $80 to $100 and the figures are about $20.

And then there were two!

Just finished my vietnam heli. Hope it flys as well as the police helicopter. It should, since it's lighter....no doors! I really like the doors on the police version though.
Thanks again for everyones help!
