The O.S. 105 HZ(R) anf muffler debate! OK...debate over!

Hey guys!

I need your input here, I'm looking at upgrading the motor in my Rave 90 ENV FBL from an O.S. 91 to the 105.

What I don't know, which is better suited for the Rave...regulated or non-regulated.

Then there's the muffler selection...PowerBoost, MP7, or Hatory?

Thanks!

As I understand it, the difference in performance is the regulated engine will be more consistent running in demanding maneuvers. Maneuvers such as pirouetting and thrashing around.

As far as mufflers go that's a personal preference.

I run the OS 105 HZR with the MP7 (105 version) and it works for me as far as tuning and power.

I have seen the Funtech B303, MP7, Power Boost, and Hatori all run on this engine.

I personally run the Hatori, and it's worked very well. I've heard good things about the MP7 and Funtech as well.

The power boost also runs well, but I've heard it's a little more difficult to tune.

Thanks, this is great news indeed.

I wouldn't be too thrilled with that for the price of that muffler!

So I'll order the O.S. 105HZ with the MP7 muffler as soon as my return comes in!

The O.S. 105 HZand MP7 came in and is now mounted in my Rave! I will start the break-in process later today. Looking forward to see how much power this motor will deliver!

Well?
I have ~8 flights on the O.S. 105 HX motor and all I can say is WOW! It is beginning to make some power even though it is very rich. I had an issue with the throttle governor, inside the Total-G, not working quite right. In idle 1 (set for 1800 rpm) my Rave would fly fine until I loaded the motor some...then it wouldn't recover. I programmed the governor off, then it started twitching at times.

I'm ordered and installed the AR7200BX! That made all the difference in the world! My Rave fly's very smooth even though the motor is still rich. I've been leaning the high needle a little at a time, every couple of flights or so. The O.S. 105 keeps making more and more power...I don't know why I haven't installed this before!
