I picked up my upgrade from G2 to G2 USB this afternoon. Installed the software and was flying in just a few minutes I like the Idea now of either being able to use my 10X or the Futaba interface radio. One thing I had to do was take the back off the interface radio and remove the ratchet. Just didn't feel like a heli radio with the click click click on the throttle. Took about 2 minutes to do it very easy. Anyone that just has the interface G2 may want to think about the G2 USB upgrade.

USB vs. regular Tx Interface Cable?

Does anyone have any experience with both the normal G2 Tx interface and the new USB interface? Is the USB interface "upgrade" really worth $79? My original Tx interface cable seems to work fine, so the USB would have to be a lot better.

I got mine at the local hobby shop; I had it on backorder for a month or so. As far as the second question about the new USB vs. the older interface. What you gain is a controller and an interface combined. I had a scenario a while back where Heli_Gal asked me to fly. My 10X was on the charger and I didn't want to interrupt the charge cycle. Now I have another controller as well. If I want to use the 10X I can or I can use the InterLink. I think it's worth the upgrade. It comes with a disk that upgrades it to USB. I had to recalibrate both controllers but I didn't lose any info or settings in the sim. I had it up and running in about 10 minutes. Can't tell any difference in flying. The USB is suppose to be a faster connect but I doubt in anyone could tell the difference.

Winder Hobby, Winder GA has them!

I arrived just as they were comming out of the box this morning. I immediately purchased one.

Mark Orr, the manager, said they won't last the weekend when the word gets out. He received half his order (12 - mine = 11 left not likely).

These people are great to deal with. I drive 70 minutes to their shop and work the trip.

Now did you guys get just the USB Interlink Controller with the update software or did you get the whole G2 package because I called Tower Hobbies today looking to order just the controller and they told me they didn't have any in stock. Just the complete kits.

I have the Deluxe CD and the G2 upgrade but plan to send them into be exchanged for full version. It's just been hard to find out where I have to send them. (ie. address and department)

INTERLINK BLEW UP

I was flying last night using the New Improved Interlink Controller and everything was fine. My best friend who is the LHS owner who I ordered the interlink though wanted to fly. I went to hand him the controller and a static electricity charged snapped as he grabbed the controller. The light on the interlink quit flashing. I thought I blew up my USB port. Plugged my scanned in and it worked fine. Somehow the static charge puked the Interlink controller. So Great Planes gets a phone call at the beginning of the week. They have a problem somewhere. No way by passing the controller should it blow up. He just walked across the carpet 6 feet and soon as he touched the Interlink I heard the snap! Every thing was dead and an error message popped up saying no controller connected.

That sucked! At least I have my old interface I can hook back up and fly until I get a replacement from Great Planes.

Man that sucks :(

Looks like someone in the electrical engineering department didn't
design in a properly protected circuit. I sure hope this was a fluke because I placed my order for the new USB controller.
