Which FBL System next?

I've flown the Align 3G, 3GX and the Spektrum AR7200BX. The AR7200BX is the best of the three IMHO, but I'm looking to get out of the Align units and I am hoping that some other unit is better than the Spektrum.

The Ikon looks interesting but I'm trying to figure out why they would speed up their demo video on the website. It appears to really be sped up. The features look nice though.

The Skookum SK540 really seems nice and also has nice features. The SK-720 Black addition is also scheduled for release soon.

V-Bar is the other choice but cost seems to be too much and to upgrade their software costs a lot also.

My next purchase of a FBL is for a Trex 700N DFC with a O.S. 1.05 with HV servos. What do you guys believe is the best overall FBL for this machine?

I think that the next big revolution will be lesser expensive Chinese gyros with GPS to give you a hard deck so beginners (and some of us so called experts) won’t crash.

IMHO, there's really no need to go any further than the BSX, unless you want to complicate your life.
I tried them all, now I am just focusing on my flying with my simple but brilliant FBL unit.

I have a skookum720, beastx and Tarot ZYX. The BeastX is by far my favorite. i would stay with the BeastX

I've got the original BeastX on my N5c and the AR7200BX on my E5. I love both of them for their own reasons.

For me, I would always go BeastX for nitro just because I use the extra channels that running the full sized recivers provide. For electrics I'd always run the AR7200BX due to not needing an extra full size reciver.

I would only deviate from these in the event that I need or want something with the GPS/waypoints and hard deck which I have to believe MicroBeast will eventually be coming out with.

New Kid OnThe Block!!!

I also have been, and still do use the BeastX and the 7200BX and have had no problems what so ever.... but there is a new kid on the block that is causing a lot of interest, and it is surpassing a lot of units on the market and it is an expandable unit, if you want , but the base price is just a bit more then the 7200BX .. it is the NAZA H and I am looking forward to giving one a try this season....check out this link... it is written by a VERY informed and knowledgeable friend of mine and I have seen him put this through it's paces...worth checking out this thread:

I fly only the 7200BX myself as well on all my stuff, but am kicking around the idea of a VBar Silverline on my Whippy Gassser.

The VBar Silverline is tempting but why doesn't it come packaged with the governor software? I think it's another $45 to add that feature. All up price would be around $400.

I have ditched The 3g, 3gx, ar7200bx and Vbar for the Ikon on my Trex 700n and 450.
Love this little controller. Its hard to believe with its size that it can handle a 700 size. And plus it has the built in Gov which works great.

I first installed it on my 450 sport and loved it. I even tried experimenting with slow head speeds. well 450 slow which is about 2700 for me and it handles it great. I can take it down to 1700 and still maintain a stable hover and flip the heli.
once I flew it a few times on the 450 I hated flying my vbar 700 so I quickly changed it over to the Ikon.

its hard to explain but it has a great feel to it. the tail is Rock solid, Piros are very steady which I always had a little wobble in the disk using the vbar. I just didn't spend the time trying to tweak it.

The initial setup of the Ikon was very quick. I found it easy to understand so I went right threw it. the second Ikon i just copied the radio settings from my first. they both now fly very well out of the box. very little tweaking on the tail on both heli's to get it flying right. pretty much 3d out of the box and complete setup.

Since no one else has mentioned it, I will suggest the CGY750 with ver1.3 software. Been reading some outstanding reports on this system.

I have never felt that the Align units or the AR7200BX feel that locked in. The piro's especially do not feel locked in.

The 3Gx units can not take any fast forward flight without the possiblity of a porpoise, which really seems to happen on windy days. The AR7200BX does fly and feel much better but really falls short of my expectations for a Fbl feel.

The Ikon is intriguing, but why did they speed up the video?

Anybody have additional thoughts?

All the latest fbl systems that I've recently setup/flown (3gx v3, ar7200bx, v-bar, hc3sx) seem to work great and with a bit of time and effort can be made to 'feel' ~ the same imho.

If I only could have one, it would be the helicommand hc3sx. The rescue mode works great and as a fbl system it is very good. Not as easy-peesy to fine-tune as the ar7200bx though.

Cheers,

I was impressed to see the MSH Brain in action on the Protos 700 demo'd by Dario. There were some pretty demanding maneuvers put on the heli and did well.

I've used the Tarot, Copterx, Beastx, and now Ikon. I am done with Tarot and copterx because I have had issues with both. Beastx is an excellent setup, but can be a bit difficult understanding the programming the first time. I have the Ikon on my 600 now and love it. It is so easy to program and works fantastic. So far, my favorite is the Ikon.

At my field a few have gone to the ikon and now mad.
Thy are upset that they now want to change everything over to it. If you think about it. It's the most diverse system as it can go from a 250 to 800 with no problems. It is smaller than any other system. It has the two sats for any size Heli and the governor that can handle any power plant.

This will either be the Fbl to own or beat.

7200BX

I just finished up a build that will go into a scaler later next week, but I used the reciever with the beastx built in and it was a no brainer... I only had one minor adjustment to make after the initial flight and that was done prior to powering down... and the machine is as locked in as any that I have used or flown... it is not set up to overpower my inputs and I really like that and the way the heli flew perfectly right off the table
I still have a V-bar to try and also might like to try a NAZA H, but all of my machines with the BeastX work just fine!!! I am not looking for something that will do the flying for me..I like my machines to feel like a flybared unit.. and the Beast has done that for me everytime...no self righting or GPS and I am fine with that!!!! Just my Humble Opinion!!!

The AR7200BX out of the box/default settings on my Trex 550 was so slow and non-responsive that I thought I had really made a big mistake. After a few flights and several adjustments with my laptop it finally came alive..but it never really felt/feels locked in and responsive at the same time. I really want both... I would pick the AR7200BX over the Align units any day but I still want better.
