I finally converted one of the guys at my field to mikado. Pretty soon we will convert everyone to the dark side...lol. Anyway, he wants to buy a 600 and he's asking me for advice. I fly a 600 and a 600se.
He's asking if he should go for the sx vs the standard version. I have no experience with the sx so is it worth the extra dollars and what servos are you running on your setups. Savox, JR , Spectrum, MSK or Futaba. I currently am using JR 8717's but as I look at some other brands like Savox and MSK, the specs are almost the same but you get more bang for your buck. So what does everyone think ? He is using 10s setup with scorpion motor, edge 623 and kontronik 80hv.
He is a sport flyer right now but has been advancing well.

Thanks.

the SX includes several upgrades to the 6003D. one might consider the SX a 6003D V2.

if you are buying new, i'd get the SX personally.

i believe there's a retrofit kit available to make the 6003D an SX.

the SE is a different animal altogether. you can retrofit *some* of the SX parts to it. but, you can't lower the head due to the risk of boomstrike with longer blades.

if it ain't broke, break it.

If for no other reason other than the lower bearing block protects against driving a pinion through the pack in a crash, I recommend the SX. Like Cudaboy says, it is version 2. Why not buy the improved version. I had someone in my club offer to buy my 600 3D. I told them I would be happy to build them a SX if they bought it instead.

I also recommend a 12S setup. It's just easier on the power system and 6S packs are easier to find in stock. Plus the ESC can be an 80A instead of a 100+ amp model needed for 10S.

Does anyone know the weight difference between the two?

Servos

What about servos for your 600. Which are best?

I run the futaba 451s and the 255hv. I'm happy with both couple of wrecks on the 255hv on an old 90 I had and still work very well. But I also use good plastic servo arms they have give in a wreck and will break before servo does.

+1 on 451s. they run fine on unregulated 2s, and any time i've ever *bonked* one, usually the $.50 sacrificial gear is all that's dorked.

if it ain't broke, break it.

I've tried on my SE, no boom strike so far..
if you compared the XXTREME blade length and shaft height, its nearly the same as my logo 600se with sx lowered head. I fly between 1100 to 1750rpm mild to hard 3d

the bls 451s work perfect on the logo 600. In my opinion they are the best price / performance servo for the logo 600
