It's hard to read through this and not be moved to post condolences for all involved. It always kindof pisses me off that when there are so many vile persons in the world much more deserving of such a fate that God choses someone descent and kind to call home in an untimely fasion. My beliefs are that things like this don't happen for no reason at all. Ron, if you're up there reading this, I would like to thank you for your final lesson. I for one, will be backing it up a little from now on.

Thanks brother. Remember, there are no crashes in Heaven.

My condolences to all parties affected ,

makes me re-look at my safety issues when flying , The problem is that i fly 90% of the time alone !!!!

I've read on RR and heard of some guys who catch the heli while in a hover and some who try to tune while in a hover

My deepest condolences go out to all involved.

I did ok reading this post until i got to the parts from the people who were there first hand and then it really hit home. I often have my family with me when i go to the field. My 10 year old son never lets me go without him ! I havent cried like I did reading this story in many many years I dont even want to begin to have thoughts about something like this happening to me or someone i know at my local field because if I do ill hang up flying all togeather. I am already affraid of a mishap with the heli harming others or myself and due to that fear I am very Respectful of it and give it alot of room.

On the same note;

Life is to short and you should try and live it to the fullest!

People Die every few minutes in car accidents! You can slip in the shower and break your neck and not survive ! My wifes mother fell down stairs while going to do laundry and did not survive. I had a friend who went to check his mail in an apartment complex almost 100 yards from a highway and was killed by a drunk driver

I have to drive a car to get to work and provide for the needs of my family. I have to shower or ill smell badly. Laundry needs to be done even though the machines are in the basement. Got to check the mail
to get my paychecks and pay bills.

I need to have a hobby to keep my over active mind from making me go insane and I chose R/C and im going to stick with it despite this terrible tragady.

Im sure Ron wouldnt want a single one of us to quit flying so please lets honor him by each one of us seeing to it to SPEAK UP at your field about anything and i mean ANYTHING that puts some one in danger or at risk of injury

When the MAN upstairs calls your number you are going home to a better place! So in the mean time enjoy what you have and live life to the fullest extent possible.

Ronnie

I remember when Ronnie first came to Tom Bass to fly, he was flying planks. As soon as he saw a Heli fly he was hooked!! A very tragic loss to the Houston Heli community. My condolences to his family.

I`m not from the states and I`ve never been there, but reading about this tragedy affects us all.

Therefore I would like to give my condolances for all involved.

I`m just sitting here, wondering, wondering about how such a thing could ever happen. It could, It did... I hate it, I hope we all learn and that this never happens again.

Boy, Rick and Steve we just can't say enough here can we? I am sooooo soooo sorry to hear of this and feel even worse that I wasn't there. I'm the club's Safety Officer and maybe I could have done SOMETHING.....

Steve, Truitt, Dennis, Shun & Family,
Let me know what I can do to contact Ron's family so that we can put to action collecting a special gift for their family.

Also, let's all gather up our pictures of Ron and get them to me. I will create a memorial page on my site www.rotorworks.net for our good friend. From some of us at the 'Bass our hearts go out to you Ronnie!
L-R(Lift, Justheli's, RICK S., Cwill02, Raymond)

All,
There were NO Club or AMA safety rules breached here. This is a pure tragedy. We spent alot of effor THIS year establishing new flight lines, flying rules, frequency control, etc. and other practices to make Tom Bass a safer place to fly. We did a good job and there is some peace in knowing that what happened was a freak accident and they were doing it the right way. It just goes to show you that you can NEVER be to careful. I'm as guilty as they come in being to close to a spooled up heli. I will be rethinking my flying.......

Please lets take this time to get something from this tragedy here. Let's all stop the petty bickering and work together to implement some practices that reduce this from occuring again even FURTHER.

Ronnie was usually this first one at the field in the morning, and typically the last one to leave. The type of person who would have done anything for anybody. He will be deeply missed. My condolenses to his family. Hopefully he is in a better place now still doing what he loved to do!

Those who helped out in any way at the field yesterday are all hero's in my eyes!

I have had a few close calls while flying helis. Nothing like this but it made me stop and think about what I was doing.

Hopefully this will make people more aware that safety should be taken seriously. If we don't start watching ourselves, others will start enforcing rules we may not like.

My condolenses to all envolved.

Someone in the area please find or start a fund for this. I would be happy to donate on this.

Lets all just remeber that as fun as this hobby can be that these things can kill someone or yourself. And we all should strive to fly as safe as possible. We do this for everyones protection GOD knows when one of these things can get out of control and something like this can happen.

Terrible, terrible news.

Sincere condolences to all involved from this side of the world.

This has made me rethink safety and not get complacent when at the field whether flying or not.

This is the first heli fatality I've heard about and it takes a while to sink in. This could have been anyone of us.

Sad day!
