Please Help - How to set RPMS on the 8FG and CGY750

I've updated 8FG software to V5 and the 750 is a V1.1. Cant't get the RPM's to match between the 8FG Gov menu and the 750 Gov Basic RPM Set menu. I know that it's related to what is selected on the Mode field of the Gov menu, but there's not enough clarity in the instructions to provide a clear procedure. The rpms on the GOV menu and the 750 change when I change conditions, but they're not the same values. This can't be rocket science! What is calibration? Are the numbers 1,2,3, in the upper right corner of the 750 RPM Set menu supposed to change with the conditions, or are they specifically for use when you program the Gov for control by a switch? Hope this isn't too hard to explain. Thanks for your help.

i haven't tried it on an 8fg and gy750 but i did on the 14mz and gy701. set your normal to 1000, idle1 to 1500 and idle2 to 2000 on the transmitter. go to normal on the transmitter and set the gov on the amp screen to 1000, go to idle1 and set the gov again on the amp screen to 1500 and do the same procedure for idle2. that's how i calibrated the headspeed on the gy701 to work with the 14mz. you can then adjust the three headspeeds using the transmitter to whatever you want and the numbers on the transmitter will be the same on the amp screen i hope this helps

Ok I can help. It is really easy. Turn on the radio to gov screen. Turn on the 750 to the gov screen that shows rpm in the basic menu. Now adjust the radio rpm to what you would like for each flight condition on your radio. Now look at the 750. Is it off by 5 or so rpm? If so use the + - buttons and set the rpm to match the flight condition. Now go to another flight and check the rpm. It should be right on or really close. Adjust if needed.

If you are way off from the numbers on your radio you will need to change the setting in your radio. You do this in the gov menu in the radio. You can select 2000 (default) 2500. This depends on the heli you are using. If you are using a nitro engine I would stick with 2000 even on a 50 size heli.

OK Guys, I will try these procedures. Keep in mind that the new V5 8fg software update give you the option to select six different rpm ranges under the MODE field of the Gov menu. Will give a try and report back.

You still have to calibrate as the two previous posts have described.

YAHOOOO IT WORKS! Gouki and Rymps, thanks for your help! Gouki, you win the all expense paid trip to Hawaii, paid for by Futaba for providing and easy to use procedure that works! Yeah! Jus kidding of course. I spent several hours trying to get the rpms to match and nothing worked. I'm so happy!

Here's what I did. As I mentioned in the previous post, the V5 8fg update allows you to choose among six rpm ranges under the Mode field of the Gov menu. For those who may not know, you can see what the rpm ranges are on the Futaba web site under the description of the 8FG V5 update. On the 8fg Gov menu, I entered the first range (1000-2000rpm) at the mode field. Then with the condition switch set at Normal, I entered 1000rpm at the RPM field on the 8fg Gov menu. With the CGY750 set to the Gov Basic Menu RPM SET display (page 70 in the 750 instruction manual) the rpm jumped to 1000 to match the 8fg Gov display, and the upper number changed to 1 like in the manual. Then I changed to Idleup1 on the 8fg and entered 1500 on the Gov display and on the 750 to match. Its upper right number changed to 2. Then I changed to Idleup2 and entered 2000rpm in the 8fg and 750, and the upper right number changed to 3 all just like page 70 in the manual. When I then changed conditions, the rpms matched on both units. I guess this is what is called calibration. I then entered in the 8fg the rpm ranges that I wanted to use for each condition, 1700, 1800 and 1850, and the 750 matched each one automatically. However, the upper right number now stays at 3 for all conditions. I don't understand the significance of the upper right number, but I guess this has to do with the spread of the rpms within the 1000-2000 range selected at the 8fg Gov Mode field. Anyway it worked, and it only took 2 minutes to set up. I even cycled power, and yep, everything was still set correctly! I didn't try the other rpm ranges, but I'm guessing they would be setup similarly.

I know this is a long-winded response, but I hope it will help others, cause I don't think a clear procedure exists anywhere. Any additional comments I certainly welcome.

Wish I had seen this before, you're so close to me in Glen Burnie that we could get together and I could go over things with you.
