anybody using or tried the GY750 with hitec's hs65mg servos on their 450 helis? i want to know if it's ok, could do better or if this is a solid set up

In general, you will not get analog servos like the HS65s to work well with a FBL system. Analog servos are far too slow in response time and their holding power is not enough for FBL. Some FBL systems like the GT5 don't allow the use of analog servos at all for this reason.

Stick with the stock 410m's...they're working great on mine.

From what I remember the speed and torque specs on the HS65's are the same as the digital version, the HS5065's. If you have them already I say go ahead and give it a try. If you have already decided to go flybarless, and use the CGY750, then the worst case scenario is you buy new servos after not liking how what you have performs.

Ive got the 65mg's with the 750 on my 450, runs great! If you already have them, try it first before you rush out the spend more money.

thanks guys! i have a gy750 and one of the cyclic servos froze in mid flight just doing some hovering and crashed the heli on the third pack. it was an airtronics servo and i want to change the set. i only hear good things about the hs65mg and they are what most use here for their 450's but none i know of have it on a flybarred set up. plus, they're quite cheap and they're available locally.
i do agree that generally in fbl set ups, digital is the way to go but the gy750 supports analog servos and i read that the hs65 servos center really well, plus, they have really good torque

Never, ever, heard that before. Where are you getting info like that from? I have been flying my 450 with HS56 on cyclics and Futaba 9650 on the tail and they perform flawless.

It is a commonly known fact that digital servos have much higher holding power and faster response time than an analog servo. Most of us who were in the hobby when the digital servos first came out know this.

If you want to prove it to yourself get one HS65 and one HS5065 servo and see which is easier to turn by hand while powered. It has to do with the faster position refresh rate provided by the digital amplifier. 200Hz vs 65Hz in the case of the 5065 and 65, respectively.

I still remember using 9252 on my bigger helis, and on several of my heli's I still do, but for a 450 size heli, I doubt you will notice the difference. Im no Allan Szabo but I do smack it down and the little bugger is constantly moving as fast as my fingers make it move. I have Jr290 digital servos in a few of my 450's and HS56 on several other 450's and you could not tell I was using HS56 servos. On the bigger helis the faster sevos/torq are more noticeable. I run 9257 all around on my Trex 500 and its like a rocket. On my bigger helis (Logo 600) I use BLS-253 and they are awesome, but they are $150 a pop. I remember when CCPM wasnt very popular and guys wanted more torq servos because the swash was control by individual servos rather the all three working together. I have buddies that go out and buy the fastest servos and the highest torq servos that money can buy and they end up turning the travel and using ATV to tone down the swash movement. (me too)

I noticed a big difference on my Furion 450 when going from HS65MG to Futaba S3156MG digital servos. Their speed and torque specs are very close; however, the Futabas feel more solid. I noticed the same improvement on my Trex 450 after changing out the HS65MG for JR285MGs eventhough the JRs have 2/3rds the torque of the HS65MG.

The HS65 is a nice analog servo that works well on a small planks. Analog servos just don't belong on any RC heli used for 3D IMO.
