Radio - Servo - Gyro - Gov - Batt>Nimh shorted briefly |
| flyinfriend Senior Heliman | Hi,I ordered a 4200ma nimh from Tower. It came with one of the wires crimped and some of the wire exposed, I explained this to Tower and they immediately sent out a replacement and said no need to send back the damaged one. I thought I could cut out the bad section and splice the ends back together. I wasn't thinking and used wire cutters to cut out the bad section out before separating the wires. Of course this shorted the battery and the back end glowed briefly and the plastic covering had a small hole melted in it. When I measure the voltage now it still reads over 6 volts. Is this battery still ok to use or should I just toss it?It seems to be functioning ok, could the capacity of the batt be compromised from this. If so how could I tell?Thank you | ||

| wrongler Elite Veteran | I don't think I would use it in anything expensive, But I may try a load on it and see how long it lasts, then recharge it and see if it takes a full charge If it does, do it all over again."Gotta Luv It". "HeliHobby Online Rep" | ||

| steve 01 Elite Veteran | We used to dead short our NIMH batteries back in the RC car days you wont have any problems with them fix the wires and cycle them a few times and see how many mah goes back in. | ||
