Wayne, there's lots of hotels by the airport thats about 10 minutes or so up the road, google Hotels Jacksonville International.

The Holiday Inn Blount Island is the closest but not the most cost effective.

I tried the Holiday Inn a few years ago, they set aside several rooms and only 2 people stayed there...

The airport area hotels usually have pretty good rates this time of year, there's a ton of places to eat, and its only 15 minutes or so from the field.

Also, there's a lot of stuff for the families to do.

Huggenot Park is right up the road with the jetties and a drive on beach. The Jacksonville Zoo is also fairly close by. Down town there's the Jacksonville Landing, MOSH (Museum of Science and History with a planetarium and laser concerts on Friday night), and for shopping, the St Johns Town Center (15-20 minutes away) will keep any chick busy for days.
