I was playing around with my Sceadu last night, and noticed a weird binding. When the collective is full up, the ball link on the long end of the radius arm (connected to the stabilizer control rod) will travel behind the radius arm of the washout block when cyclic inputs are made, and catch on the radius arm. This only happens on my machine at full collective, and when cyclic is input at certain phases. For example: It will catch at full collective, when the blades are perpendicular to the helicopter centerline, and hard aileron is input. Only one catches at a time, as the swash is tilting. Is this a setup issue, or a sceadu issue.

Thanks, John Cadwell

Send me a picture so I can see what you are talking about. The linkage should clear everything okay if the washout is installed correctly,

I think the length of your linkage that connects the radius arm to the stabilizer cage has either improper length or you have failed to bend them per instructions in the addendum sheet. I've just looked at mine and there is no binding at all in mine. I have my complete linkage length setup on my website that might be of help to you..........

I noticed the same thing when building mine. You do have to bend them "outward" slightly to eliminate the binding as per the addendum sheet.

Yes mine did the same thing. The way to fix this is to add a .025 thick washer behind both mixing arms. Also make sure the wash out is installed with the completely flat side facing the rotor head. You guys should not have to bend the rods at all. Maybe Jeff green will see this and add two little washers to future kits.

I added two washers behind the washout arms, and that took care of the binding behind the radius arm. What does the bending take care of? Does it just affectively shorten the length of the link from the washout arm to the flybar?

Thanks, John Cadwell

It not only shortens them but helps them to go "around" the mixing arms at extreme full negative pitch with full cyclic swash position.....
