The holes will have to be drilled in the camera mount adapter plate not the DJI frame. The reason is the bottom frame plates are Power Dist. Boards also. So you CAN'T drill thru them. There are slots that you could use to mount your setup on. You will have to make the adapter plate fit those. It will be pretty easy to do.

On the S800, it will be coming with Retractable landing gear as standard soon, so I doubt people will want to put that aside.

Might want to make a gimbal only version for the S800

I've never flown a 550 quad as we manufacture units ourselves.
The mount is designed to fit a 550. If the quads smooth I would expect good quality video.

Using a GoPro you would need to move the camera to the front hole to give the camera a clear view between the skids.

This is on our Quad shooting with a T2I using the 700 mount.

It's this unit shooting the video

The Stock DJI 550 will not lift this gimbal and DSLR Safely. Also, You DO NOT want to use stock DJI props with any type of camera gimbal load. They are very well known for breaking. If you want to carry larger camera gimbals and such, you may want to consider getting the F550 Heavy Lift conversion. That way you can run larger motors and props. Then you can carry a nice size gimbal and camera.

As mentioned above, DO NOT DRILL THROUGH the bottom of the 550 Board. It is a circuit board, and placing bolts through it will complete the circuit, Releasing allot of Magic Smoke lol.

I want to make sure individuals getting into aerial imaging aren't mislead.
Drilling though a circuit board is no problem if the battery is not connected. Then a derlin T insert is used to eliminate the chance of shorting a circuit when connecting the camera mount or any other item.
