I am using Real Flight Deluxe (not G2). I have the third add-on pack containing the Raptor helis. Upon increasing throttle, the blades do this funky woof thing, way out of track (probably not unlike the real woof) and then poof, the heli flips on its side. If I increase throttle to half (or more) and keep tapping the space bar to reset, the engine speeds up, the blades track and the heli will lift off. It does the same thing whether I use my Futaba 8U on the interface or my homemade Futaba buddy box controller through the joystick port. Other helis operate ok. Has anyone else experienced this? I'll continue to mess with the head and blade parameters.

Try changing the head type

Kevin, I was messing around with the head type (I think the choices are solid axle or dual flapping) a while ago to see if I could set RFD up to be able to do blade stoppers and then get them started again. I don't remember which one did it, but one of the head options gave me the same behavior when first spooling up. If I spooled up really slow though, it would settle out and be fine. If you want I'll check it out at home tonight.

Yeah, like the guy said when he pi$$ed in the wind, "It's all coming back to me, now." When I first got RFD, I actually went and took a perfectly good and stable bird and made it fixed pitch (had 4 degree coning angle, Clark Y blades, etc.) I now remember I changed the head to solid axle and changed some other stuff there, too. It would do the woof thing, too. I'll look into it again tonight. Thanks for the reminder.
