Setup Help

Anybody have the manual for the CopterX FBL unit? The download link on their web site is not working. On second thought may not need the manual. I downloaded the software for computer and it has a nice online walk thorough of the setup under Setup tab. Sure anxious to see how this works.

Explain more about your experiences with cheap equipment please..... I would like to know what you are running from and who was flying it and hear exactly what happened.

The pilot is my friend's son, he is fourteen year old.We known the gasser is equal to weight and vibration.My friends were amazing that the boy was able to fly it very well.

The FBL is not all CHEAP! Would be much better to say it is INEXPENSIVE because when something fails to perform than I would say it is CHEAP. The CopterX FBL unit performs very well and I am satisfied with my purchase. My first foray into FBL and upgraded my old 450 with this for a low $$$ FBL setup. Wow, I cannot believe guys are really putting this on a gasser, do you have any video of that?

CopterX software problem

How do you get the software to see the FBL unit? The manual has nothing on this so I'm flying blind on this one. I've plugged it up to the PC using the USB cable and nothing, nadda, zip. I've tried connecting with the FBL powered up, not powered up. If anybody has successfully used the software sure could use your help.

One more thing I've noticed. When it's powered up and I'm tilting the heli on its pitch axis the tail rotor responds. When I rotate the heli about it's yaw axis the swash responds by tilting forwards and backwards. Roll responds normally. Now when I move the sticks I get the right responses so everything's plugged in right. ???

I'm a total newb when it comes to setting these things and would sure like to talk to someone who's had good results setting this up.

This will help you with some instructions.
Sounds like your piro comp is reversed when you piro the heli in a circle and your roll axis is correcting. You can have the servos move in the right direction but the sensors reversed from correction.
You will need to run the driver app in the same zip folder that you downloaded because it sounds like you have only ran the CopterX1.2 install.

I forgot about that. Installed it and now all is good in the world. I figured out that the rudder/pitch thing was because the FBL is mounted on the side frame so it was seeing pitch as yaw. Set up fixed that. Now time to play! Thanks! you've been a tremendous help.

Well that video convinced me to try one.

I took perfectly working BeastX off my Avant 90 and put the CopterX 3000. Using JohnNZ software. Easy setup, pickedk the hardcore values.

Cannot get rid of the side shakes to save my life

tried lowering the cyclic gain down to where is no gyro action.
tried lowering the P value.
tried combinations of higher and lower I and D values.
tried raising the gyro deadband gradually until hitting 80
in between i went to defaults to keep track of changes 1 at time.

All had minimal effect reducing head shake, but control felt horrible.

This is same mechanical setup works flawless with the BeastX.

Do I have a bad unit?

How do you make it work on a gasser which is not as smooth as a nitro?

Maybe thicker tape on the bottum.

Your not an expert because you seen it!!

I try the thicker and softer tape. helps a little, but shakes still there

the only thing left is to move the control balls closer to sero center to increase the resolution

Does it shake all the time or when you move sticks fast and let go?

Also make sure your blades are perfectly balanced. I had one of my 600 shake and I re-balanced the blades and all was good.

start ok, as it settles into hover shakes begin and never stop

same heli and blades and setup work perfect with beastX, heli or blades is not the problem.

I now sure this unit cannot handle vibration from nitro.

Igunpilot you nailed that one for sure. We are being hosed on a regular basis, by buying chinese made for big bucks.The merchandising companies are making tons of money from us.
