Depending on what pinion and cell count you are planning to run it could be a very hot ship!

Dude...this heli rocks!!! I'm using 2600 3300mAh packs, and the balance is fine. My head speeds are 2300 & 2800 rpm in idle 1&2.i

The Protos 500 is very light in the air, fast, and moves with very little effort. It is very quite, basically all you hear is the blade noise. It feels like that of a 50-60 size heli...not quite a 90 size, but somewhat.

You should try a 470mm setup. Running the same headspeeds you quoted this thing is freaking scary fun to fly. As loud as the blades can be it'll be all you want to hear anyway. OP, your setup should do more than just adequate. That thing will likely change your heli religion.

+1 on all good things about Protos.

Protos 500 is a lipo hungry. Try to get highest C rate that u can get on your lipo.
2600mAh - 3000mAh.
She just sit in my office right now.

(Good flight end up with ...... big smile :D)

Love mine also, only down side to stock setup has been mentioned, li-po hungry! This is partly due to the SAB 430's which are power hungry but mostly the high gearing. I have dropped mine to a 14T and added some Align 425D 3G blades which are not only more efficient but more resposive too (if you like that sort of feel). Still only getting 3.5 mins out of 2700's.

60% of the time, it works every time!

I think with FBL and the tail power on the Protos being so good there is no need for crazy headspeeds.

Piranhafreak- that's pretty much the same setup I started with on my Protos, only difference was 9254 on the tail, it was sick, 3:30 minutes of 3D at 2850rpm. I've since done the stretch kit and flybarless mod on mine, with the AR7200BX and it's even more fun!

Cheers,
