Thanks Billy Bob,

Absolutely, you need to get yours going....

And I totally agree with you, the Ballistic is one SWEEEEEET machine!

Hi guys,

For everyone who's interested in using their ENV canopy on the Ballistic here's what I've found.

1. It looks like you can relocate the rear canopy mounting standoffs downward and rearward to fit the stock ENV canopy mounting grommet location.

2. Also, you need to use the stock length ENV rubber canopy standoffs to support the upper canopy (the Ballistic canopy is narrower).

3. Last, the lower canopy mount will need to be lengthened to properly engage the ENV canopy.

If you are up to making some mods, it looks like the ENV canopy should work just fine....

I've been having good luck with the CC 160HV ESC's. The cost is around $320. That's actually cheap compared to Kontronics ESC's.

I also realize there are some inexpensive Chinese ESC's, but I really like the features in the CC ESC (logging, adjustable spoolup rate, adjustable "auto" bailout spoolup, adjustable governor, and many, easy to change settings and firmware updates.

hi sky dander,
Is it hard to keep the wires inside the frame, or do you prefer to run them outside?

Thanks

All servo wires are inside the frames. The other wiring is routed through the frames and exit an opening to get to it's final destination.

My bad, I read your post again and realize you were asking about the RX Lipo. I'm still using some BLURR 2100 Lipos I had from my ENV.

However, I'm thinking of upgrading to the Thunder Power 2700mah receiver packs in the near future.

Hey Don

I see you have something plugged into the top of the TG? It looks like either the fc or tail side. Just curious to what it is? Maybe a switchglo? Lol

TP 2700 mah pack is a very nice pack! However lighter the better IMO.

Hey Jeremy,

The wire plugged into the FC (on top of the Total G) runs to a VoltMagic RX battery monitor located on the side frames just behind the right side cyclic servo. Funny thing is, I bought it many years ago and never used it until I ran across it in a catch-all pile a couple of weeks ago and thought, hmmmmmm. It's just an easy way to monitor the RX pack when initalizing, and it also reports the lowest voltage recorded on the last flight.

I too agree, the lighter the better. But an extra ounce in a receiver pack with the security of a new pack and enough duration for a days' worth of flying is fine with me. Besides, the Ballistic is so responsive, I'll probably never even notice the difference. LOL....

Don that's a great idea! Do you know how many mah you use in one flight?

The BLURR packs I'm using are 2100mah and I usually fly 4 flights before changing them. That gets the voltage down to around 7.5v and I could probably go another flight easy. But, I like to be on the safe side so I just change them out.

That's probably around 225/250mah/flight....

I'll probably get and easy 6-7 flights on the TP2700 mah packs and I can fast charge them @ 10.8A with the 16G leads. It just seem like the natural progression to my next generation of RX packs.

Well, I installed a TP 2700mah RX Lipo and made six flights today. The voltage only dropped down to 7.8V meaning I could have make a couple more flights as well.

I'm happy to report, the VoltMagic monitor did not record any low voltage readings below the actual voltage of the Lipo during any flight. I'm really happy about that because the other smaller Lipos I was using (they were getting a little old) would easliy record a lower voltage spike by simply raising and lowering the collective repeatedly fast while sitting on the bench.

Oh, by the way, the new 4.0 firmware on the CC 160HV ESC works just great. Love the new governor program....

ENV to Ballistic

I dont know if this has already been asked but how much is reused going from the ENV to Ballistic if you buy the ballistic conversion kit...

Here's what I'm hoping... take the boom, head and landing gear off and mount to ballistic frame!! wouldnt that be awesome! I know there would be an issue with the boom mounted tail servo versus the frame mounted ENV tail servo but...

That way I could load both frames with necessary equip and then its as simple as changing boom, head and landing gear to either frame set!!!

***I guess I should have added that I have an ENV nitro kit. So maybe that makes it a little more clear as to why I would go from one to the other!! It would be silly to go from an ENV elec to a Ballistic and flip flop between.

Thanks!!

I used my nitro ENV as a doner machine for a Ballistic conversion, but after looking at what I had left over on the ENV airframe, I decided that It wouldn't take much to buy some parts and build it back up again. Hey presto, one extra heli !!!
