I'm such a lucky man....

I was able to find and have just started building my "ENV" to "BALLISTIC" conversion kit. I really like the design and quality of this heli and WOW, do I love those metal TR gears....

Now, it's time to take apart the "ENV" to finish the "Ballistic"!!!

Here's to a fun build and a "BALLISTIC" model....

the bolt for the battery rails look like they may be backwards. if the nuts are on the inside may cut into the battery.

Edit: Thanks, I was looking at the wrong side frame during the assembly. That will be an easy fix....

Not in stock form.... But it looks like you might be able to modify it to fit by relocating the standoffs and rear mount. The Ballistic canopy is quite narrow up front where the front standoffs are and they would have to be lengthened in order to touch the canopy.

As much as I like the ENV canopy, I love the Ballistic canopy even more (and it comes in the conversion kit!).

I did install the ENV canopy on the Ballistic and Sky Dancer is right. It does fit but not as snug as the Ballistic canopy and will require some modification.

To me the ENV canopy looks great and to me it screams Power of Nitro and the Ballistic screams Fast and Sexy. LOL

Just give them a call. I believe these babys must come and go in a hurry.

They will probably get their website updated shortly (I'll bet they are super busy shipping stuff out).

Finished building my new "Ballistic" conversion last night, Yeee Haaa.

The mechanics are simply awsome! And the stock canopy is very sleek, sexy and the colors are highly visible.

Now, I need to setup the Total G and tie everything down.

Can't wait to fly this little baby!

Is that frame stiffener on lower bearing block. Mine doesn't have one.

It looks like a carbon fiber ATG sensor mount. There is no stiffener that I know of.

Yep.... It's not stock. I simply made up the frame stiffner from some spare carbon fiber and it fits between the lower mainshaft block and the motor mount. However, I can't take credit for this, just happened to see a photo of a Ballistic with one and thought, hmmmm, why not....

That being said, it may not be needed, but I'm always looking for a little something extra.

Yeeee Haaaa....

First, let me say that the maiden flight certainly exceeded all my expectations.

The weather was cool (47F) and the winds settled quite a lot from Saturday. The first flight was spent wringing out the old girl and getting familiar with a very positive control feel. The Ballistic flies very light and it is wonderfully responsive to every command.

After the maiden, I checked every bolt, nut and set screw, and everything was still tight and secure.

On the next two flights I added a little more expo and softened up the collective on idleup 1 for smooth big FAI style maneuvers.

On idleup 2 (3D) the Ballistic had great pop on collective reversals with no significant motor loading (+/- 13.5 degrees collective). The cyclic commands responded quickly with a very solid and positive feel.

The removable battery tray was an absolute pleasure to use. Hmmmmm, I may need to get some more Lipos because it was just plain fun to swap out the batteries and keep on flying and that way I wouldn't have to mess with charging at the field (LOL)....
