Plug in the bind plug into the rx
Plug in batt to rx
Turn on tx while holding down the bind button
Release when you get a solid light

This is on a JR not sure about the other tx.

havent bought one yet but if i go 2.4 it will probably be a dx6i....can you bind to any brand reciever or do you have to bind spektrum to spektrum-jr to jr and so on

It's brand specific.

JR and Spektrum that use DSM2/DSMX are interchangeable.

You can't mix and match any other brand receiver and transmitter.

Buy the radio before you ask how to use it. Binding is covered in the first few pages of the manual.

As mentioned earlier, JR and Spektrum equipment use the same protocols and work just fine with each other.

Futaba works with Futaba.

Airtronics works with Airtronics.

Hitec works with Hitec.

Buy It First!!

That is 100% good info....
But, if you are going to be flying in a club, see what they use mostly.. It could make it easier to get help if you need it...
Also, if you plan to move past "park" fliers, l would suggest highly that you look at the new DX- 7s....
Great inexpensive radio with enough functions to fly anything from the small bind and fly models up to gasser sized helis!
I keep an older DX-7 in my shop as a back up unit...
Good luck...

It doesn't hurt to ask before you buy. I always ask questions before I buy something. This way you know exactly what you're getting.

A good practice. However, when it comes to binding, what you run into is radio manufacturer specific instructions. The process is not a universal one whose steps are independent of manufacturer.

Hence, the initial response assumed a JR/Spektrum system whose operation would be meaningless for Futaba, Airtronics, and/or other radios.

The procedure is well-defined in each of the radio's operator's manuals.

I guess you don't ask any questions before buying a car , a TV etc ? Everything is in the manual you know

Evans , on Spektrum you have a small jumper wire/plug that goes into the battery port on the Rx during binding . You plug it then power into the Rx and after a few seconds the LED on the Rx starts to blink . This is bind mode . You then turn on the Tx while holding in a specified "Bind" button on the Tx until the two communicate and the Rx LED stops blinking and becomes solid. The final step is to turn everything off , remove the bind plug from the Rx and then restart as normal . After you have the model setup you need to repeat this procedure with your controls as you want them to be in case of a power failure , this is the "Failsafe" settings . Futaba is similar but there is a bind button on the Rx instead of the jumper wire .

Hope this helps.

And given enough time, more people will post how those steps are performed based on their radio. Once the OP gathers all this information, he or she can decide which radio to purchase based on the manufacturer's binding methods. Maybe the binding process is the only important feature to the OP.

Ask away OP

You never know...some radios may be a real pain in the ass to use and even though the manual will explain it,you don't have the manual until you buy.

Ask away.

On most people's top ten list of things to look for when buying a new radio, I doubt that "how you bind the RX" is a deal-breaker.

Oh please yourself...According to the majority of your condescending holier than thou posts,we should just abandon this "discussion" forum and just "Google it"

I have tons of downloaded manuals but it always makes more sense coming from an end user.

I want to think you're joking, but in case you're not, I went through the trouble of making a pdf document with instructions.
