| 3dwanabe | I have a friend who recently lost the use of his right arm in a dirt bike accident. He crashed into a tree at high speed and suffered nerve damage in the one arm. After seeing me fly my 600E, he desperatly wants to learn to fly rc aircraft. It's all he talks about whenever I visit with him.I would really like to buddy box him with one of my planks but I need to find a single stick transmitter. Aileron, Elevator and rudder on the stick and I can relocate the throttle slide to the front of the transmitter so he can manipulate throttle with his pinky finger. After searching for days, I haven't been able to find any transmitters configured with a single stick. Does anyone know where I can find one? | ||

| 3dwanabe | Dood! Thanks for the link. I'll show it to my buddy tomorrow.I used to fly a single stick Kraft radio way back in the eighties when I was into thermal and slope gliders. It made it a lot easier to coordinate aileron/rudder for turns. Thanks again for the link, that's exactly what we were looking for. | ||

| Dood | He's never done modified anything RC related that I know of, but "Ben Heck" Heckendorn is well known for modifying video game controllers for 1-handed use.

| lfalsetto | One of the members of our club has an old single stick that Radio South converted to 2.4. It is really great but my left hand doesn't know what to do. | ||

| jsenicka | most of the single stick stuff does not mean single hand, right? Still need opposite hand for throttle/collective on most of those radios.I wonder if you could actually do something with a game controller type rig. Like a pistol grip with A/E on the normal axis, rotate the grip for rudder, and a index finger throttle trigger that had positive/negative. And a mode switch on the thumb?Jim Senicka | ||

| nitro fun | for the single stick have a roller on it like a mouse to control throttle with one finger | ||

| 3dwanabe | What would be really cool is a slider on the end of the stick to control collective. That would place all of the flight controls on one stick. | ||

| Justin Stuart | On the first seller listing, what is the seller talking about with the "rudder knob conversion"? I thought they all had the rudder knob on the end of the stick?Avant Aurora | ||

| 3dwanabe | Wow, those transmitters are kickin' it old school! That Kraft transmitter looks just like one I used to fly way back in the day. Really brings back a lot of fond memories when I used to fly slope gliders at Coyote Hills in Fremont, California. It's awesome that it has been made useful again by adding Spektrum electronics. My buddy wants a modern transmitter so he will probably have a Futaba 7C converted to single stick by Radio South. Using a pull knob for collective sounds like a great idea.As soon as the weather gets a little warmer, I am going to buddy box a plank with him using a DX5 on a neck strap and duct tape. He will only have control of aileron and elevator. Just to make sure he really wants to get into the hobby. I'm sure he will.If the prices weren't so steep, I wouldn't mind getting both of those single stick transmitters for myself. I bet a Spektrum module will plug in and work in the JR transmitter.I used to maiden planks for a club member that used a single stick JR transmitter just like the one in the ad. It came with a twist knob for rudder control fresh from the factory. All of the single stick transmiiters were equipped this way unless they were 3 channels or less. | ||

| Justin Stuart | Pull collective would make a lot of sense. I bet it would be really intuitive to fly with all major controls on one stick.Avant Aurora | ||

| fla heli boy | maybe drop Curtis Youngblood a line. Don't know if he still does, but he used to fly single stick and his radios were all built by him and (mostly) his father.
