The site is the same as the last two years. Camping is permitted, but there are no hookups. There is a lot of space. RVs welcome.
There are a couple of RV parks nearby, if you want hookups.

Motels: On all of these, please mention Southern Rotary Classic or RC helicopter show, so they can check the rates as you register. Some do not offer any special rates at all. They are getting tight for some reason. Here we go. All except last one are 10 miles from site. There are other places of course. I think these should be able to take care of everyone. Ok, guys we are 3 and half months away from the event. Please keep on preregistering.

I plan to have a drawing for a nice prize (not sure what it will be but expect something nice) to give away to one person that pre registers, also the pre register people will get more opportunities for the pilot giveways.

We are thinking of moving out pilot give way to the lunch time hour during the time of our heli demos and give one Grand prize away that evening. Some people are not able to stay for the night flying so we will "might move the pilot giveways earlier in the day and yes we are planning to both fly under the lights and do some traditional night flying as well this year.

You do not have to be present to win our Grand Prize Raffle item, since you will be donating to get a raffle ticket for it, but you will have to be present to win the pilot give aways right after lunch.

Things are coming together behind the scenes so keep signing in and pre registering.

suggestions

Maybe I should not ask this question but I am going to ask anyway.

Anyone got a suggestion for a nice "600 size helicopter" that can be given away for a Grand prize. I know there are some nice 700 prize helicopters but you are talking a lot of money for one of those.

I would love to get one of our sponsors to come through with a good deal for one and I will look into it, but we normally get a 600 size and it still makes for something nice.

SAB will have the 630 Goblin out by then.. might want to contact Bert and see if they will donate one.
If not the Fusion 50 is still one of my faves.. almost a 700 when flown 12S with a big 700E motor.

Also I have to second the site issues Rob posted a while back..
You cant tell me in all of Dallas Fort Worth area and suburbs there are not an established RC club site that will host us? This event attracts a ton of people which is good for the clubs and the sites.

Old location wasn't great either but new one really leaves alot to be desired.

Thanks for you input, I personal like hearing from the guys. Would like to hear more from others about what possible helicopters we can get for give away.

There aren't any big heli-friendly fields in the DFW area that I know of, just a lot of smaller ones that wouldn't be big enough to host such an event. The NE Texas RC Club field was somewhat unique in the amount of space it had available.
