Attention! If you’re using the New DFC Rotor Head please read below.

First of all thank you for using Align official upgrade parts on your Trex helicopter.

Regarding Align’s recently released 700DFC rotor upgrade assembly, there has been an instance reported by customer where a loosely tightened bolt on the pitch link assembly caused high frequency vibration, resulting in material fatigue and bolt breakage from where the thread starts. Due to the concern that this breakage can lead to unforeseen safety issue, Align has modified the grip linkage arm design of both 700DFC and 600DFC rotor upgrade assembly. In addition, the bolt has been replaced with one made from CNC’ed high carbon steel material for improved rigidity and strength, effectively avoids bolt breakage issue.

Caution: Please do not fly before the 700 DFC new parts have been replaced. We deeply apologized for all the inconvenience caused.

For customers who have already purchased the first version of Align 700DFC head upgrade set, please bring the main blade grip arm and the screw to where you purchased of the local distributor to exchange the newly designed screws and grips. This replacement process will start on January 22, 2012. If you have any questions, please contact your local distributor.

You can identify the first version and the newly designed version per the attached announcement.

Best Regards,

Jeff Fassbinder

Interesting...

So if you position a screw thread near a sharp corner it may break and cause a 700 sized heli spinning 2100RPM to explode near the deck...

Basic analysis on a CAD tool would have shown this information, how was this missed.

Oh well at least the response from the mfg was prompt.

Trex 600 DFC

Your Trex 600 DFC arms should already have the upgrade. This was done prior to our first release. Please note that on the DFC 600 Rotor Head the bolts supplied are black. On the 700 DFC they are a chrome finish. So your DFC 600 is good for flight.

If in doubt just look at diagram posted and look closely at the Pitch link bolts that should provide a good visual.

May I ask why the old arms & bolts need to be returned first?

I bought the original version (H70089) back in December & received it early in the new year.
When the recall became public I immediately contacted the online store that I bought it from for the replacement parts.
I finally received a reply today, but now they want me to send in the old parts first.

So basically now I have had my machine grounded for almost 2 weeks waiting for an email reply from the store (due to Chinese New Year), now they want me to return the faulty parts which will cost me both more time & money.

Surely the old parts are going to end up in the garbage anyway, why can't I just get the replacements sent out directly to me.
I can provide proof the original purchase if needed.

Can this be addressed please Jeff?

Reason for return

Hello HiroboFreak,

The reason is safety. We would like these items returned so that they are not used. The new parts have been updated and for safety we ask that you return them to the vendor which you have purchased. Further, your vendor most likely has received parts from the distributor in your local area and has the upgraded parts.

Again we apologize for the inconvenience but want to make sure you have the best experience when flying your Align helicopter.

Best Regards,
Jeff Fassbinder
