A couple Short test flights (cheap packs) of my 550 with the new DFC head. I actually feel more of a difference in flight characteristics on the 550 DFC head vs the 700 DFC head. The same differences just more extreme on the 550. Pivots very fast and accurate

Trex 550 with DFC

Trainwreckk, your DFC rotor head looks like it's working very well. A very nice flight. Look forward to more of your videos. Like the full pitch pushes from a tail slide and the hard cyclic pumps.

Well thanks for posting on you DFC rotor head. Looks like it's working great. So are the thumbs!

AlignRC, can you confirm that the specs showing this heads mainshaft as 12mm is a typo?

Alignrc

Question. I have been flying the trex 550 for almost 1.5 years with 553 edge/align 550 blades and 90mm tails. I would like to ipgrade to the new dfc head but am concerned about the distance main blades to tail. Has this been tested w the dfc head? Does it provide the necessary clearance?

Thank you!

DFC Like It

I have used the DFC on my 550E and works excellent. Even though the 550E response and agility are excellent with the new DFC head I found it more smooth an responsive. I do not fly hard, just a couple of simple maneuvers.

I also installed the DFC upgrade to my 700E, with same results.

Wattup LECz3,

I like your Trex 550. Nice color scheme. How'd you get your tail boom that neon yellow? Also been considering swapping out my stock 550 v1 head for a DFC but been hesistant as my flying skills aren't anything to brag about and w/my current settup the bird is nice and docile. Was concerned that the new DFC head would make the bird too jumpy.

Hi byter182,

The boom was covered with Top Flite Trim MonoKote Neon Yellow.

My experience with the DFC head is that the machine keep its fast and agile movements, but maneuvers are more precise. It won't by jumpy. For me it is a good upgrade and the machine looks nice.

As additional info, I am using the Trueblood Head Dampeners T-Rex 600/550 (Readyheli. part # DAMPENERS11).

Looks awesome!
Could someone measure the distance from blades to boom with DFC on a 550? I'm looking at modifying a KDS innova to have an Align DFC head!
Thanks

I just measured mine and it is 126mm. Seems closer then some of the other models. I only have a couple flights with it. I just do sport flying. I'd be interested on hearing what others with the DFC head measure from the blade to boom. Chuck

Cool thanks for that, any way you could you check the length of the links from the center of the bearings where they attach to the grips to the centre of the ball where they join the swash? I need to know how much modification I'm going to have to make!

The measurement of the links from the servo to the swash plate is
53.2mm.

The measurement from the swash to the center of the bearing on the blade grip is 53.8mm. With this I can get + and - 12 on collective and 0 degress at half stick. Chuck

On my 550E I turned in the links to approximately 49mm and used the same 550E (V1) swash links of the original FBL head.
