Hello,

It looks like you have the older style tail pitch slider that doesn't have the flats for wrenches. You can replace that sleeve with a new style one that tightens with wrenches. That being said you will still need to get the current one apart or send it to us for repair. Probably your best bet would be to clamp the slider into a vise, and drill the end off of the brass sleeve. As for the little bit of play in between your pulley gear and the side plates, you just need to unbolt on side and put a couple of shims in and you will be good to go.

Sincerely,
Jon Yuhas

Sounds like Jon has given you some good advice..... ie, replace the sleeve with the new style.....

While you have it apart will be a good time to shim that shaft by the pulley to get rid of the excess play.... don't shim it too "tight", though .... you want slight play so that when things heat up back there while running it won't bind up on you....

Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

What happens when you try to turn (tighten) that knurled nut ?? Does the entire sleeve turn as you try to tighten ? Or does it actually tighten ? Although there are no "flats" you can use a set of needle nose pliers to grab a hold of it (the knurled piece, not your pecker ! ) or better yet, it would be better to take that entire pitch slider off the shaft so that you can tighten it from the front using a pair of regular pliers.....

Regardless, you're going to need to replace or repair it before you have a complete tail rotor failure and possibly hurt yourself in the process.....

If you don't feel up to the repair job, send it in to QWW and let the elves in their back room do it for you....
