DEDO
you could try to email canomod, they have custom painted some for me.... No gasser heli yet, but I have two custom canopies for the whipgas...

Mike,
I am very patiently waiting for the gasser release, some call me childish, some say just be patient, some agree that it is very hard to wait on something to come out... here's my take if you are interested.............

I order mine whipgas in October because we were given a release of say 2nd week in november no big deal.....
around the middle of November I sold my spectra g expecting a heli in the next couple weeks or so.
Then was told middle of December, o.k. weather sucks I can wait a little longer no big deal...

Now - no idea of when it is coming maybe middle of March some have said??? If thats the deal, I have been on the hook for six months.

I am still holding on... but dang!!!???

So please, could you give us an indication of what is holding up this model? not asking for a ship date but just an indication of why its last and least of importance? Do you think this is weeks, months out?

When you are waiting on something, days seem like months.... we need a time frame to hold on to.... a real one, to help us get there!!
Trust me.. I've been first in line on some helis that were released too early and it was a long and painful ride. If they're taking longer than expected then there's a good reason.
That being said, Miniature aircraft is awesome, love the products... But dont tell me the heli will be better because it is taking so long, as the model isnt even being tested by pilots yet, so no refinements are being made!!! correct??

Come on man. Think about it for a minute. Their machine shop has to make batches of parts. Lets say one run of tailcases is off spec. Then they have to run another batch. Now they are a week behind schedule. Little stuff like this adds up, and then the helicopter is a couple months late. Why is that so difficult to tolerate?

I think MinAir should just say "Coming Soon" for future releases and then only announce when the kit has already shipped. That would avoid all of this nit-picking. Don't you guys have anything else to fly while you're waiting?

You guys are funny. Or have never worked for a company or corporation that sells products to the public.

Hard ship dates, as a general rule, destroy companies. In fact, few things are worse mistakes than issuing hard ship dates on any product.

Don't ask me why I know this. All I'll say is it's going to be along the lines of why Mike knows this.

So the best rules of thumb are (to preserve your own sanity): a) do not plunk money down on a product that hasn't gone to market yet or b) only do so if it's not a bother for "tentative" ship dates to slip and/or emails not to be returned, etc.

I usually do a) and simply wait for the product to come to market.

My strategy for staying sane while waiting for unshipped products:
- avoid pestering email accounts with "when's it going to ship? when's it going to ship?...". If they respond at all, it's going to be "real soon now" and that's all you'll get.
- avoid pestering email accounts/online reps with "why hasn't it shipped yet? What's the problem?". No company that knows what it's doing will ever divulge this kind of information in the process of bringing a product to market. It just won't happen. If they do, it'll be a courtesy only and should be taken with a grain of salt. Consider yourself lucky in that case.

Both of those strategies will keep you out of the rubber room and maintain the enjoyment of the hobby.

My .02,

LS

Made in the USA

As many know the Whiplash E was the first to be released, there has been an overwhelming response to the E model and so production has been running long on it in order to fill those orders.

The nitro, again the number of orders has sky rocketed however there was some last minute changes to the clutch/fan which has pushed back the release. Nitro kits are on the kitting tables as I type this and are being boxed, those kits should hit store shelves by the end of the month. We will be pumping these kits out as quickly as possible.

Unfortunately the gasser has been pushed back because of the what you see above. March is a likely release time for the gasser but at this moment we can't give a hard date.

Please keep in mind that we are pushing everyday to get these models out, we want to sell models so if they are sitting in a warehouse it simply doesn't do us any good since we don't get paid until models are in stores.

While we realize that some of you have been patiently waiting and our time line was a bit off you can most certainly expect a model that is bulletproof.

We appreciate your patience and welcome your input.

I don't care about a release date for the Whiplash gasser...When it becomes available I will buy it no matter what month it is! LOL

Mike,

If you don't know you don't know. BUT,....if you say, "soon" or "two weeks", you give the impression you know.

P.S. are we there yet?

Yup, when it comes out is comes out. I am sure there are more important things in life to worry about than one helicopters release date. Just sayin

One mile of road will take you one mile. One mile of runway will take you anywhere in the world.

Zane,

Soon is the best I can do. I can't say 2 weeks, if it takes 15 days instead of 14 I may be crucified.

Again, you should be seeing nitros in stores by the end of this month.

Would it be possible to get an unpainted canopy for those of us who do our own painting. I mean green is nice, but...

I'm a neon yellow and orange kind of guy.

I believe Canomod will do a custom for you. Indy, maybe you can comment on this. I believe I saw a sneak peek of an uncleared custom of yours no?

here's the ones canomod did for me based on my own designs... one is the original whiplash design done in oranges and reds and yellows....

Mike feel free to copy this photo and offer this as a canopy option in these colors if you like.

The nitro, again the number of orders has sky rocketed...
I hope this means a resurgence in interest in nitro. Could this be due to the new big block motors (the 120 and 105)?

A Whippy nitro flybar is still on my radar for my next machine. I have a little bit of Align "lockin" because of my huge crash kit for my trex 700's, but I can't seem to get over the beauty of that nitro Whippy in Bobby W's videos...

I have my own equipment and paint.

I just need a canopy. The removing the old paint is a hassle.
