Servo install issue -Pantera 50

Finally getting back to putting together my Pantera 50 after a much too long break. Hopefully this is just something my tired brain is overlooking, But when I install my pitch servo (Hitec HS-635HB) the servo case contacts the button head bolt on top of the tail pinion pulley? Whats going on here? I'm also curious as I though I read somewhere where the manual has been revised and the lower tail pinion bearing block is to be flipped so that the movement of the shaft is controlled better? Is this something I need to tear back apart, or just something to correct next time I have it out. Looking forward to getting this thing in the air! Todd

Todd,

The bearing block orientation for securing the AUD1011-2 should be such that the bearing comes in from the bottom on the lower bearing block and from the top on the upper bearing block.

If the button gead screw touches, don't sweat it. While it may be real close, it's not close enough to lead to any real problems (and if it does touch it'll make 'clearance' for itself in short order). Many folks have used 635 servos without issue so I don't think there will be any major issue with this.

Finally, welcome back! We're looking forward to flight the report.

The interference with the servo would have been significant. And too much to "run in" 2-3 MM. Even though I though about it as I'm anxious to finish! Luckily I found my mistake! For others who may find themselves with this problem a mis-assembly is possible. I had the "pretty" side of the pulley with the small nub in the center facing up. It seems that the flat side with the 4 flashing marks should face up to prevent the bolt from sticking up a extra MM or so.

All is well now except I will likely need to replace the bearings from flipping the lower block, As I am always a bit worried about bearings I have had to warm up to remove when they have been secured with locktite. Honestly a bit irritating that even the current online instructions show it the wrong way? Other than that this thing looks great! Todd

Updating the manual is on my agenda.
