Yea, I noticed that also. Been this way for a while.

I like my 3D+ as well, but craving the electrics after flying my Protos a while. If I can wait...I'll have a 7HV that should cure that craving.

3D Plus is a great heli. Super light, with my OS55/B320 it's unbogable!

I use to have a 3Dplus - loved it! But now I have converted to the E side and currently fly the 7HV which I competed in our nationals comp and placed 1st in 3DNZ cup.

I wish there was some more chatter on here too. I have the bug for a new project, and it simply must be a 3D+. Seems a nitro makes for a good fun fly machine. I love flying electric the most, but I've not yet owned a 3D+ or a nitro with Vbar. Don't need a fancy setup at all. Vbar, OS55, B320, Vbar...already have an extra JR 8900.

I just finished an Align Super Cobra and may sell it or trade it to get the 3D+. I loved building the Cobra, but ready to build something new.

Rob, I’ve been having a blast with mine! The only issues I’ve had to date…the fuel tank, brittle landing gear, and the clutch and now clutch bell. I noticed fresh fuel leaking down the tank one day. Found the tank cracked at the vent fitting, so I was losing tank pressure.

The other problem was the one way in the clutch during the late fall. No biggie, I replaced it and all was well. Then in the spring, I had my receiver pack die in flight. The motor stayed at 90% throttle, basically smoked the clutch liner.

I’ve replaced many clutch liners so decided to do the same here. I ordered a new liner for the Compass 3D+. When it came in, it was very hard to bend and brittle! I tried boiling, steaming, and using a heat gun (400+ degrees) to form the liner to fit the bell. I couldn’t get the liner to bend enough to match the bell. So I ordered a new bell with liner installed.

That only lasted ~30 flights. As I found out, the liner was only spot glued to the bell. Well that liner popped out and the clutch broke. Coronal had a spare clutch, and I had ordered a Trex 600 liner…next time I will try a X-Cell (from MA) liner, I believe they are thicker. I had to glue a thick strip of paper to the bell first, then the liner.

It works! Now I’ll see for how long. Outside of a couple of issues “I’ve” had…it’s an awesome heli. One that I would buy again!

Thanks RCnut. I love my Compass helis and already have some shareable spares. Sounds like a good idea to try a different liner material. I recall relining an Align clutch a couple of years ago from a tipover. The liner went in easily, and worked perfectly. I think I used CA. I really like the new Loctite brand control gel products. It's rubberized, and seems to work with a large variety of bonding materials. I bet it would work well for a liner. Great to hear you're enjoying your 3D+. Would make a nice collectible for my Compass fleet. Plus, parts are available at Nankin a short distance away from me.

Must be nice! I find it hard to get some parts from them...most of the time the part is out of stock. I wish there was more than one hobby shop carrying parts.

I have a Compass 6HV and it is wicked crazy! I had Eric Brandenburg set it up as if it was his, radio sensitivity. I fly it, but not as much as my 3D+.
Sounds like a good idea to try a different liner material.
I had found 2 glue spots on both clutch bells (about 180 degrees apart) that was holding the liners in! Not good. I bought an ARF plane that was plagued the same way. spot glueing along the spare. Needless to say, the wing folded and totaled the plane. And that plane came from good ole China!

Aside from that, it's an awesome heli.

I picked one of these up from a friend (I had to have one after flying one at Miramar).

It will be a while before I can outfit it with an engine, pipe, servos, etc.

I saw you flew Tim's. Sounds like fun, and I love the "look of how it moves". If I can wiggle back into nitro, it will by my path, only unless it might be an Odin V2. I almost bought the one Airworks had for sale before decided on a 6HV FBL.

Love my 3d plus. If I had to pick 2 helis ONLY to keep, it'd be my 3d plus and atom 500. My 6hv would be close behind though . I love my 7hv too, but I'm way more comfortable with the 3dplus/atom 500.
