Wish I could but I think the old 60 size engines had larger crank cases than the 50 size motors.

same here, I have a good selection of the old 61 size os, novarossi, and webra engines, just a shame the crankcase is on the large size to fit the standard 50 size mount

56 to 60 ain't that big of a bore. 8 lb. 60's should be better than 12 lb. 60's of yore.

Now we need a new muffler?

Based on my current experience using a combo
[Align90 muffler/ KME60 engine]
Which works fantastic and; very well it could be the case with this YS60;
We may end up taking out of storage our old hatori 90 mufflers....go figure !!

If im not mistaken Tareq is using the muffler from the 56 until the 60 mufflers are made.

New .60 sized heli's are on the way and Hatori is designing a custom U-pipe. Early versions of this heli are at about 9 pounds.

If its making good power with the 56 muffler maybe there is no rush to get the 60 muffler?

Most people that have a frame wthe old 60 size mounts will just put a 90 in it.....Guy at our field put a YS 91 in his Align 600......I agree the 56 muffler should work ok till they come out with the new high priced 60 size,just the displacement increase should give a good power boost.As far as the old 60 size mufflers,i dont think they would be as good as the 55-56 size mufflers they have now.

I would rather see them work on their carby fuel system setup.
They are too touchy for any kind of debris.

Hey, I could drag my old Hatori U shaped muffler out of retirement - the old is indeed the new, "new." I have headers, coupling and clamps for it.
The last time it saw service was on my GMP Competitor. In fact, I could go down to my storage and pull out my GMP Legend and have a complete deja vu session at the flying field!

The trouble some were: YS61ST-2 and the YS50ST, both purchased brand new.
While my YS80 (purchased 2nd hand) and my YS91ST (purchased new) had no issues.

On both, the 61 and 50, after changing every single part, i.e one way valve, all O rings/seals/diaphragm, and cleaning out and blowing out the regulator body with high pressure air, were finally traced to tiny metal slivers in the regulator body that finally dislodged themselves in the tens/twenties flush out and pulling the regulators apart.
Very clearly a manufacturer process issue.
Looking at the cost of the engines and having a 50/50 success/lemon ratio, my latest engine is now an OS91HZ-R. which hasn't run yet as I am still waiting for parts to arrive for this top of the line heli. These parts were faulty in the box, so the heli is still not finished.
This heli was purchased in late 01-2011....but that's another story

So who is selling it ??

Was up in Gardnerville, NV this weekend taking care of a few family things when I got a chance to do a little flying with a friend of mine, Richard Verano (owner of YS Parts and Service). He was testing a new YS 60SR in his heli this weekend. When I saw it, it had maybe a couple flights on it, still tuning it in. He handed me the transmitter and I got a chance to make the first of a couple of flights. That was fun!

Power was EXTREMELY impressive, motor ran very smooth. He had a pipe designed for a 56, as it's been stated there isn't one optimized for this engine yet, but it seemed to work out pretty well. It's tough to describe the power, but it is a considerable step up. The punch outs were with authority and I was able to put it through my sunday flyer, 3D wanna be routine... huge loops, unboggable tic tocs and piro flips. Both of which I suck at so THAT should say something about the power! . Made a flight with a standard Trex 600 tank, hitting it pretty hard (for me, not pro pilot smack flying hard) for about 10 minutes with just a bit left in the tank. Not bad.

I left the field with the impression of a very smooth, very powerful motor that a lot of thought has been put into. Very impressed with the smooth power, can't say that enough.

Oh, and one other important point I should make, this flight was made at a field at 5000'! I can't wait to see one of these things at sea level... Awesome.

I don't want to speak for anybody as far as timetable... But it sounded like the 60SR would be available pretty soon. Sounds like YS is pretty happy with it's performance and wants to get it out in the market.
