I had a newbie call me with a used Tiger 50. I offered to have him come out to our field as a guest and check his new bird out. Training gear and the old lady flew great. He is getting the Tiger Grin! I pulled out one of my Pantera BBC birds to fly. Note to all. This ship has not been flown for a long time as she was one of the test BBC ships many moons ago. Lit her off and it flew great....until the tail started to give some real wild shacking during punch outs. Some of you know the drill.
no control and deal with it! I set her down and all looked well. Back in the air and inverted flight was normal, until a I would jam the rudder.
All advanced pilots would just expect the visa card coming out of the wallet as the thumbs and brain knew things are not right.
I did get her down and no damage.
Looking over the bird I could not find anything wrong...until I did the wiggle test. Head. check! Tail check! Gyro mounting tape.....no go.
The tape holding the gyro was not happy. It was just a crumbly mess.
No wonder my tail control was funky. Thinking about it. I have about 25 hours on this prototype ship and years of flogging.
Please my fellow pilots. Check your mounting tape before you blame a solid ship.
