Alum tail housing for NX?

Had an issue with plastic tail housing on my Swift NX tonight. Installed the new tail alum tail hub and grips on my nx tonight. Installed the assembly on the tr shaft and balanced it, put everything on my heli and slowly spooled it up, then tail goes into a bad wobble and shake, then smoothes out nice. Thought that was kind of odd, but it ran smooth at 1600 and 1700 on the gov. Cut throttle, and on the way down, the tail shook so bad it cracked the tail housing. I didn't notice it being cracked the several times I had it apart over the last few days. Either way, I need a new housing and I am thinking about going with the alum housing.

I am starting to get pretty frustrated with this thing. I had a few vibes when I built it new, but easily got it pretty smooth. Now for some reason after being in my flooded basement, it is giving me a hard time. I have had it stripped down to a pile of parts. I checked every bearing and replaced any that weren't smooth as silk. I can not win with this thing. I haven't even started balancing the main rotor head yet. It didn't take a fall or have anything laying on it when I finally got my basement pumped out to check everything out. It was sitting the same spot it was when I last saw it before the flood. I never had this much trouble getting things balanced out. I wish I still had my nice cheap revolution balancer, I had to razor blades stuck in the end of a block of wood with the sharp edge sticking up the rest the shaft of the balancer on, and it was very touchy, but it worked great. Santa I getting a huge list from me in a few days.

Are you are spooling up without a head installed?

What head speed is it spooling up to? Stock blades?

The plastic holds well considering but an upgrade is much better.

Spooling up without the head installed, but according to the data, the headspeed was 1603, and 1699. Pretty close to the 1600 and 1700 I had set for the gov to run. I was looking over the plastic housing, and the bearing cup on the right side is way to large for the bearing. It doesn'st look like it was stretched or worn larger, just looks like it was molded that way. Another question I have is, does the alum tail housing fit the boom nice and snug? The reason I am asking is, I got an alum horizontal fin bracket for my nx to replace the plastic one that refused to fit tight, and it was way to large to be even close. Part number on the package it came in is the same # the instruction book says it should be. It appears almost everywhere I look, the alum tail housing is not in stock.

I am not sure if I mentioned in my original post, but when spooling up without the tail blades, the tail would go into a shake and then come out of it, same with the tail blades on. According to my tru spin, the tail assembly is balanced good. I am thinking the housing had to have been cracked before, or the bearing cup molded into it was to large from the very begining. It is funny how many little things I am noticing on this heli since i did a total tear down and rebuild. The elevator arm has a bend that seems to have been molded into it, and the relacement I got is the same way. The swash plate inner ring spins tru, but the outer portion osilates when the main shaft turns. I was considering just getting a new heli before I started getting into rebuilding this one, now I am considering it again, but I have invested about half the price of this kits in new parts and upgrades already, and I'm not done yet. The stock wood blades where way out of balance out of the box, and took me quite some time to get them perfect, I am not even going to consider running them. Gonna just get a set of Mavvrick carbons. i flew them on my venture and raptor, and all 3 set took very little to balance them. I still may just buy another kit, because as far as I am concerned, the heli is now broke in and I will no longer worry about messing up a nice new clean heli if i stuff it into the dirt.

It should not shake as mentioned. I have had my issues but mainly due to stock tail rotor hub.

The plastic tail gear box does have a weak point on the tail pitch arm side. For me, it ALWAYS broke in such location. Mainly due to not enought plastic when compared to the rest of its design.

I can post photos with my findings, or you can break out a caliper and find it. Can only be found/discovered when in pieces. Most upgrade this sooner than others.

Your shakes could be due to too loose of a belt, worn out area for the bearings and or cracked housing. All of which you seem to aware of.

I would call to make sure its in stock.

Swash...my second one was flop free. Still running the stock one.

Woodies...I would not fly those either.

Does anyone know of a shop that has the CNC tail case in stock for swifts? #CNE566. I can not seem to find one anywhere, and it is holding me up big time.

It seems no one has the cnc tail housing in stock for my swift. I called heli world directly and they are out of stock and don't know when they will become available as they are made out of the country. I asked if I could place one on back order and was told no. I got 2 different plastic tail housings and both have way too much play in the bearing seats. I have another set of tail blades on the way as well, actually 2 different sets. Right now the tail issue I am having is the only thing keeping me out of the air.

Ok, I'm done venting now!
