if you've been trying to get in contact with Al at TRM Power (or "Toxic Al" as many of you know him has), he recently had back surgery and has had some complications that are making it difficult for him to respond in a timely fashion (in fact he's back in the hospital)

So if you're trying to get in contact with him you might want to use email and give him a couple of weeks to get back to you.

He's been building specialized motors for the hobby industry for over 15 years now and still gets excited when he's talking about new modifications he's planning or working on.

For those of you who have or have had back problems you know that they can be very painful. I think its an understatement to say he's pretty miserable right now. If you want to send him some encouraging thoughts, you can email him at toxicmarine@juno.com

I was wondering what had happened to Toxic Al. I've been on the Esprit Model "instant notification" list for a TRM 231 since July and have never received an "in-stock" email, so I was wondering if he was still making motors or if he was still selling them through Esprit.

I sent Al an email wishing him my best and that he gets to feeling better. Thanks for the update, Carey.

Last time I spoke to Al via email (around June) I recall him saying that he was selling his motors exclusively through Esprit Model now and would no longer be selling them to the public. Has this policy changed recently? Or perhaps I misunderstood him?

Esprit is the distributor

you can buy the motor from Esprit or Century or anybody else that carries it. At this moment, they are probably in short supply

its complicated actually, the std line motors are sold through Esprit. Any custom work would be direct from TRM

Allen returned my call from the hospital today, We talk a little while, he was in a lot of pain, but handling it well, He had twitted his back and has cause a quite a bit of pain,

He is not out of the race for sure,(dammit)

He will be back as soon as the short hospital visit is over, I wished him the best. And of course offer some of my (60"s) stash for pain.

I know kinda how you feel,i have to get spinal shots in my back every few months and it HURTS very bad. I need sergery but my Doc says it may make it worse,so i'm holding off for now. I wish the very best of luck and God be with you.
