Hello,

I thought people might be interested in the Graphics card comparison data I have collected whilst using G2.

http://runryder.com/helicopter/gallery/823/

It is interesting to see the leap in frames/second as each step in the technology is released. It also shows that it is usually the graphics card that is the most important item. When I upgraded from an AMD 800 to a 1800+ the gain was very small.

As a heli flyer, I find that it is preferable to get the frame rate up to the screen refresh rate if possible, but anything over 40fps is ok.

I measure the fps (at least I try to be consistent) by using the Rainbow Canyon in 3d with everything turned on (inc exhaust on the heli). The Heli is parked at the intersection of the runways and running. The view is the default position.

Video Card.

That's interesting. I was only getting 30-45 < > with not that much turned on.
I'm running an N'Vida TNT Pro2 32K with a P-4 1.3 gig and 128 megs of 800 mh RD Ram, as soon as I upped the ram to 384 megs the frame rate has jumped to 90-105, as soon as I take off and there is more sky the rates just fly.
That's normal (less rendering) but I never even came close to those fps until I increased the ram. I think next I will go for a G-Force card,(I forget the #) they are comming down in price as the "killer" cards are being released.

I'm running a visiontek xtcy geforce 3-200 vidio card with vantastic results, but never bothered to check what any of the settings are and running all in defult.

Thanks, Scott

G-2 Frame rates?

Hi Scott, sure, just go into advanced gadges, there is quite a long list of things you can display as you are flying, scroll down to "fps" (I think that's how it appears) and select it.
Every time you fly you will see in the corner of the screen what you have selected.
I have "engine rpm, rotor rpm, fps, distance from pilot, altitude, air speed" etc. etc. There are many choices.
