Having a great time with my flying buds...when I decided to do the one last flight before calling it a night...well...I did a half cuban eight and after the roll out to level...lost orientation and kaboom...rest in pieces my Swift 16 :-(

You must have been flying as the Sun went down. Very easy to lose orientation then, sorry about that.

It's funny, because the whole "One last flight" thing seems to hold true more times than not.
I'm not a superstitious person but at the end of the day, I often catch myself saying "One last flight". If i catch myself saying it, I don't fly. I pack it up and go home. I think I've been bitten by those 3 words like 3 or 4 times now.

I always say "I'll have ANOTHER flight."

It helps to knock on wood too for good luck!

A mate of mine said he'll have one last flight & the inevitable happened, not on only one occassion but two! Dumbass, lol.

Heres the trick to not crashing...

SAY its the "second to last flight".

Gives you one more chance to quit.

Thanks for your comments :-) I do have a Trex 600 but I like the Swift since it weighs less and have the batteries for it.

The good news is I can practice with my mcpx, it doesn't weigh much and I know it will survive if hitting grass.

That "one last flight" got me too.

I had a little fuel left & decided to fly it out instead of just packing it up. Everything in me was telling me it was a bad idea & I did it anyway. Why, why, why??
The sun had set & I lost orientation while it was between me and some trees.
It didn't total my Hirobo Schweizer but did break the blades, blade holders, canopy (which are hard to come by), some links and bent the main shaft.
I had the next day off work too & had planned on hours of fun flying.
HARD lesson hopefully learned!!
Hope to have it back up in a few weeks...

I've had similar modifications to my heli's footprint after "one last flight". No good ever comes of saying it!

Today, My friend took his outrage 550 up for one last flight but it didn't sound right plus the tail was twitchy. He landed for a few seconds did a cursory check and took off again. In a split second his heli was climbing while in a out of control piro, leaned over to one side and hit the ground hard.

He found out the gyro gain was set too high which was tied to his throttle and during a quick throttle change the pinion stripped the main gear. Funny thing was his first flight was fine.

Moral of the story, if it doesn't sound right, stop and recheck.
