ok, here is my problem, I followed Helihobbys website and did a search thru this forums seperates issues and havent found a solution to my problem yet. I have a HB, with Razor heli V2, Phoenix 10 ESC, Lithium 3 cell, ISC 50, Futaba 240 gyro. I cannot get the tail to work correctly. When I set the tail up to arm, the tail motor will spin, but as soon as the main motor begins to spin, it stops. When the main motor spins down, it will start again, its almost like the main motor is using all the juice. Im hoping one of you guys will have the answer! Thank in advance for helping me.

Im not sure what your talking about as far as backwards, but the revo is INH, Im assuming that is off because my other choice is ON. Im using the futaba 9CH. I have the gyro AVCS off. As long as the main motor is not spinning, my gyro seems to be working, I can turn the helicopter and the tail motor will spin in response, but as soon as the main rotor is powered up, it stops spinning and will not work again.

eodtec,

You need to use revo mixing if you go separates or use a hh gyro.

Do Not use revo with a heading hold gyro. It will screw you up.

3 cells is too much also for teh FP hb and that motor. Switch to 2 cells.

It sounds like the gyro is on backward. When you rotate the heli nose to the left, the tail should start spinning - when you turn it back right, it should stop. If it does the opposite, you have it on backward.

Good luck!

I also had the same problem for some reason?? I had take power from the tail ESC to make it work.. I was also using three cells but now my PHOENIX 10 seems to have a short or something because now when I fly the Helis main motor hacker b20-22 will cut off and on as I fly kinda like a real bad glitch.. have you tried your tail esc -bec to reciever?

"You need to use revo mixing if you go separates or use a hh gyro."

Right and wrong. Let's get it all right.

IF you are using seperates with a NON HH GYRO, then you SHOULD use Revo mixing.

IF you are using seperates with a HH GYRO, then you SHOULD NOT use Revo mixing.

IF you are using the HUMMING BOARD, then you SHOULD NOT use Revo mixing with either a NON HH GYRO or a HH GYRO.

Youngblood, no I havent tried my tail ESC to the reciever yet, its set up just like the information on helihobbys website. Im about to give up on the seperates HB. My HB with orion motor and Hummingboard is flying amazing, but the expensive brushless HB is doing nothing. I think I may get a hornet and put all my brushless components in that, then I wont have to worry about a tail motor and tail ESC

Eodtec

When I went seprates because of the brushless solution, I had a problem with the Tail rotor being real weak. No mater how much or how little revo I used it was still messed up. Anyways, after a lot of poking around, I found that I had to adjust my subtrim to get the tail rotor to work properly.

I hope this helps a little.

ok, Im going to mess with my subtrim this morning and play with it, Ive tried to up the 1st revo so that the tail motor will spin like crazy till the main rotor catches up, but then as always, its like a switch is turned as soon as I give it enough juice to lift off, the tail rotor stops. I will start messing with the subtrim right now and see if that helps, Thanks!

Hey there eodtec man,

did you ever get anywere with that problem your having with the tail shutting down when you start to add throttle?

I just got my new gyro - the GY240 and am having the same problem.

I have an Astro 10 brushless motor with whatever brand ESC that was attached to it and I have the GWS-50 ESC for the tail. The tail will respond when I move the heli left and right - but not always. When I adjust the tail trim the tail will start to spin. When the tail does seem to be working somewhat, by the time I get to about half throttle it stops.

Any help would be very appreciated.. I haven't flown in weeks.

Thanks,

MarkMan

I have seen the same problem with my Pic Pro. Try this: Raise the throttle a bit to just start the mains spinning. Then move the rudder stick all the way over in the direction that arms the tail ESC. Bring it back to neutral and then just a bit of opposite rudder and you should see the tail rotor start. Add more throttle and see if the tail stays active. The real problem is the surge when the main motor starts resets the tail ESC.

Help Please

Having problems with my seperates, I also followed helihobbies step-by-step instruction for the brushed set-up. I have gy240, gws esc100 for main stock motor and also a gws esc100 for stock tail motor and then running the stock battery. I started with the gy240 AVCS in off and the gain to 0% as instructed, the main motor spins then I try to arm the tail by giving left rudder and then nothing happens to the T/R. Tryed arming the T/R to the right and still nothing. Attempter arming and dearming the gy240 but nothing either. First thought that the tail motor might be out so I directely wired the battery to it and it worked fine, so it leads me back to the esc. The esc came out of another R/C airplane that worked fine so still doesn't make me think the esc could be bad. Any help or advise please, thx.

Well I got a little further on my problem...

First I was not arming the tail when I turned on the power. But the tail still shuts off at about half throttle. I tried everything in this post and still not working. I've been messing with the end points on the Tx (is that the subtrims?) and that has an effect on how much throttle I can give it before the tail shuts down. I'll mess with it some more tomorrow.

I didn't understand what YOUNGBLOOD was talking about when he said to "take power from the tail ESC to make it work" any clarification?

If anybody has any more ideas I sure would appreciate it.

My set up agian for the tail is the GWS-50 ESC with the GY-240 HH gyro and I'm using an Airtronics VG 400 4 channel Tx.

The problem is that the tail motor shuts off at a little less then half throttle.

Thanks again,

MarkMan
