Todd's Freya has been stripped off radio equipment/servos/gyros so I think that's not too likely.

Why did he strip it? Did he put the electronics on the Fury?

I emailed him and asked him which heli he recommend, Freya or Fury, and this is what he wrote me back.

Chris,
You cant go wrong with either helicopter.
The Fury is a better value money wise in my opinion,
it comes stock with ccpm and a torque tube for the
same price as the Freya non ccpm belt drive.
I like the ccpm mechanics I flew ccpm on the Freya.
An order to get the freya ccpm its a 300 dollar
upgrade and the torque tube upgrade is 200 so now your
at 1150.00 for the Freya with the same options as the
Fury.
You do not have to use ccpm on the Freya, I did like
it better that way but it flys good stock also.
The Fury is a pound and a half lighter than the Freya
I like that, you can feel how light the helicopter is
in the air when you fly it.
Bottom line is they are both really good helicopters
and you will be happy with either, I think the Fury is
a better value for you money.

Hope this helps,
Todd

Right from the horse's mouth!

Having both ships I have exactly the same opinion.

Now Now Augusto, don't come into this forum and start spouting off about all this Fury stuff.... Todd's comments all make a lot of sense, one thing that was not brought up is ease of maintenance and parts availability. I've built a few Freya's, and taken a long look at the Fury. It seems as though the freya is easier to assemble, and doing maintenance on them or repairing after a crash.... How fast can you take the main mast off your heli? About 30 seconds with the Freya.

I just got my sceadu, (thanks TB), and I don't have a manual for it, didn't really matter because the thing is a breeze to put together. It's bascially a Freya that got minimized. I bet they used some of the same templates in their CAD system, parts of the frames are sooo close to a freya. I'll bet my sceadu is lighter than a Fury 50!!! I think this thing is gonna be a rocket with the OS50 and muscle pipe.

They are both outstanding heli's, the Fury's weight is enticing, but the thing I dislike most about this hobby is fixing these things, and the Freya is a piece of cake in that department. I'm sold on plastic frames because they either break or they don't, they will give a little, and don't need a bunch of brackets to put the frames together...

Bottom line is that we have a lot of great choices out there that will cater to each individual's tastes. Every time a new heli comes out, it just makes the other manufacturers have to start thinking about beating it... The wonders of competition.

So, once again, as long as everyone flies Freyas, the world will be a better place. And I promise there is no bias in my view of these products...

Mike,

I like flying the Freya but to me weight is of paramount importance. The Freya with a 60 is no fun to me. With a 90 it's amazing. The Fury with a 60 is amazing. The power ratio feels similar to the Raptor with a 50.
I remember the look of Dabling at the IRCHA jamboree when he saw me take off doing back flips while at the same time going straight up like a rocket with my Rappy 50, I had to let him try it. That's the kind of power ratio I like and for that you need the heli to be light.
Now the plastic frames are pretty nice to work with but there you have the Raptor 60 with plastic frames and the weight is the next one after the Fury for the 60 class. So that's the proof that it IS possible to make a plastic or hybrid heli that's not as heavy. If we don't ventilate this issues then the manufacturers won't be forced to review and improve their designs. Also Hirobo is a japanese company and I know from personal everyday experience that they will not change designs until the sky is falling on their heads. It's just a cultural thing. You would think it would be no problem for them to make the 11 tooth pinion for the Freya but no, they wont make it, they are just stuborn, they think they know better than you or me and don't want to insult the designer of the helicopter by suggesting his design needs improvement so we are forced to get it built ourselves. That is the kind of attitude that makes me and a lot of american customers shy away from a manufacturer. We are used, and with every right, to expect the manufacturer to react to the needs of the market. Hirobo in America IS Jeff Green make no mistake about it. The excellent service we get is the result of his efforts. If he wasn't around fighting his way against the japanese corporate culture we wouldn't get half the things we get but even him is just a person and there is so much you can keep pushing until you get tired of it.
Again, the Freya is a great helicopter but the fact remains that it is heavy and no matter how many times we talk about it that fact will not change. There are people like me who like light helis.
This doesn't change the fact that when I saw you flying your Freya 90 I could tell you are able to do whatever you wanted with it. At the end what matters for each one of us to be happy flying our ships. As a matter of fact I wish people stopped buying Furys so I can finally get another one

Why do you have to go talking like that? Do you have a problem that someone bought something just because they use it. Its seems to me that you must live in a cave because its everywhere in advertising. Nike has Tiger Woods. Obviously people buy it because Tiger promotes it. He promotes golf balls and stuff and I bet you that people buy them because he uses it. People buy jewlery, clothing, food, shampoo, makeup, cars, gasoline, shoes, gym equipment, etc... because other people use it. Are they all groupies too?

If they buy it just because ______ uses it, yes.

If they buy it because they've considered its merits relative to the competition (note: the fact that _____ uses it is not a "merit"), then no.

Freya is good, Fury is good, fly what you like...

....but take it from me, Bergen is still best.

If Bergen is the best, then the Raptor has to be almost as good because the control system on the Bergen is almost the same as the Raptor.

The similarities are striking, huh? I'd probably be displeased if I were Bergen. It sorta surprises me that nobody has come out with a push-pull elevator upgrade for the Raptor though, it seems like an obvious upgrade.
