So what type of helis are most popular at the club? What is the Heli to plane ratio?

For helis, Raptors and Trexes... about evenly matched. Airplanes mostly in this club but helis get good support.. planes outnumber helis probably 30 or 40 to 1 in ownership but flight time is probably 4 to 1 or so. Those of us with helis tend to fly a lot. i'll get back to your pm as soon as I can but the short answer is "bring it on".

Hey Rockhead... kick him some links... slacker.

Hey Bri,

Iaian wants to fly with us. I told him about your 30 on the buddy box. We need to hook him up.

Rocco I will give you a call tomorrow, probably around 6pm. I work at AMC Friday night, Saturday nigh and Sunday evening (I am on my break now). It isn't a bad deal, I am full time and have Monday through Friday off - it is especially good tonight as all the kids are sleeping.

I have been reviewing helicopters to buy - my old planes used to be Nitro and I honestly hate the 'gook' they produce, when you combine that with spilling fuel everywhere, not being allowed to bring it into the house, etc I think I am going to stick with an electric. I am not sure what Thunder Tiger are going to do with the E325, if they are going to phase out the old ones or just keep the V2 for the more advance 3D pilots - however I think I will get either get the old one (if they are keeping them around) or a T-Rex 450. Just the thought of being able to put it in a case and take everything to the fiel is just awesome. I can take it anywhere - I know a slightly larger Heli would probably be more stable but the big electrics are just a little too pricey firstly to buy secondly to repair. I will keep an eye out here to see if there is a BNF deal or I might keep an eye on Ebay too. Once my wife is done with Law School I might venture into bigger and get a 600.

What type of transmitter should I look for? Who will be teaching me, and what can I buddy box with them? I will mostly be out there on weekdays, though over the summer I should get some weekends off - so we can do some flying then.

Any words of wisdom? Rocco, I look forward to our chat!

Cheers,

Electrics being what they are today there is no reason not to get involved with one and more than one reason you should. Good plan. Mini Titan doesn't impress me at all.... IMHO.
600 makes the most sense and you could find a used one cheaper than you might think. I own 3 450s and a 500 and there is a big difference between the two. As with all things, size does matter.... just ask Rocks wife
Rock and I tend to fly the same things so we can share parts and common knowledge. Your best bet for a number of reasons, regardless of size is something in the Trex family...... just my thoughts.....
Rock knows far more about radios and can post a better arguement than I can but I'm betting he tells you 9303 makes the best sense.

How much should I prepare to pay for a 600E to get it flying - helicopter, transmitter, chargers, battery, etc. What would a Raptor 30 or T-Rex 600N cost with all the field equipment, transmitter, etc.

There is a Raptor 60 for sale with engine an muffler for 275 - I think it's a V1 which I am not interested in but if it's a V2 what do you think?

Sorry... I don't mean to be a bummmer. I, actually we, can be a little blunt at times but we always mean well. Raptor 60 is actually a bit of an oddball and I would stay clear... IMHO
