Hi every one just wanted to put my say in for the HK600 gt. I just finished mine. I do have to say that I am pretty impressed with most of the quality of the heli. But there is a few things that do need to be fixed or changed out before any one should put the heli in the air. If any one has any questions i would be more than happy to give advice or to give my input on what i had to change on my 600gt.
HERE IS MY SETUP THIS IS A 12S SETUP

HK 600 GT
SCORPION 4025-630KV
CASTLE CREATION ICE 80HV
CASTLE CREATION PRO BEC/ 3s 2200mah 30c for receiver
ALIGN DS610 CYCLIC
FUTABA S9254 TAIL WITH GY520
ALIGN PRO 3D CARBON BLADES
KBDD TAIL BLADES 92MM
KBDD DAMPERS
KDE MOTOR MOUNT
2X TURNIGY 6S 3000MAH 40C PACKS
Fusuno Canopy

There is more Mods to list that i have done please feel free to ask. I have only test hovered this heli and i am still trimming and tuning. more info and updates to follow. Please share your ideas and opinions.

You've got a lot of stuff hanging off the side. My preference is to keep as much inside as possible in the event of a crash. Also, why are you running a BEC Pro AND a receiver pack? Why not ditch the receiver pack, and tie the BEC Pro into the 12S supply? This does lead into the problems that other folks have had with the BEC Pro, which is why I ditched mine for a WR Super Hercules.

Otherwise, looks very close to my setup. I've got a 600 ESP with the same motor, WR Super Hercules BEC Pro, CC ICE 80HV, and same batteries. I just made the jump to FBL (Align 3G). I'm running SAB 620mm Red Devil blades.

The question you should ask yourself - do you like the way it flies?

Bad idea. The CC BECs seem to fail close to the max ratings and when they do fail, they take out all the other electronics with it I would either use a rx pack with the CC BEC or ditch it all together for a different one.........Ron

Just hook the cc bec pro only up to one of the 6s batteries if you are worried that it can't handle 12s.

bec pro

I read your post on the Bec Pro as well as others. From what i gather every one that has had one fail was either the V1 or they were running it off a big Battery. I have the V2 and went with a stand alone receiver pack for the sake of comfort zone. The only problem i have got so far is the one way bearing locking up.

Why not scan that list of mods and add it to your gallery as a simple PDF download?

I've been wondering about the build and quality of the HK 500GT and 600GT for quite awhile.

The 600 might make for an inexpensive airframe to hang a fuselage on.

I've seen their 450 Pro with the Torque Tube, it looks really nice. I've been flying their all metal head upgrades on a couple of Trex 450SA, they have treated me well.

Mods in PDF File

DKSHEMA

I am working on that idea of putting the mods in a pdf file for others to view. I should have it up in a day or so. I just want to make sure i have it written in good detail. On a short note there wasn't much that i had to do to make the hk600 a nice heli.

Here's the one I use. I have 100+ flights on it, and it has yet to fail. A bit pricey at $18, but well worth it IMHO.

http://www.bocabearings.com/search....OfSearchResults

As far as the BEC PRO is concerned, I stand by my comment on the WR Super Hercules. Even though this BEC is pricey, I have yet to have an issue with it (200 flights). It just works. The most annoying thing about the BEC Pro is that you won't ever get 20A out of it at 12S. In fact, you have to go to CC's press release to find out how the max current ratings degrade with input voltage:

http://www.castlecreations.com/medi...pr-ccbecpro.pdf

8A at 48V? This is terrible, but for a $40 BEC, I guess you get what you pay for.

thanks for the info and i know the cc bec pro has many cons. I am new to the 600 class electrics and i got it based on what i read from other places.. I am Most likely going to replace it with a S.G. Reactor X.. But for now i will use the CC BEC PRO V2 that i power with a 3S lipo to finish my tuning. One more question should i run my setup with governor or flat line throttle setting in the DX7. I have a 15t pinion and only able to get 2100hs with the gov. on. i would be happier with 2250 to 2300hs. any advice.

My buddy's one way bearing is always locking up on his align 600. Occasionally he has to pull it and grease it. It's good to go for another 60 flights or so, then starts gradually locking up again. I've been blessed that mine has 400+ flights, a couple of crashes (none with power on) and still runs like a top

I run my setup with 14T and have 3 governed setups. 85%, 95% and when I'm feeling frisky 100% (on HV85). Works well. TrevJones is running his on 15T so you can send him a PM and get his input as to his settings. He likes his head speeds high

Did some headspeed Calculating for you here
http://rc.runryder.com/helicopter/t...1/?p=5113498#RR

and got

Voltage for this calculation (avg):3,6075/cell with a total of 43,29
Nominal voltage: Spoolup RPM 100% throttle no governor (44,4v): 2468
Avg RPM you will see with 100% throttle and no governor: 2315

Max normal bogging applied you will see RPM at: 2045
(this number should be the minimum if your motor & battery is up for the challenge)

Spoolup with Governor @ 65%: 2019
Spoolup with Governor @ 75%: 2142
Spoolup with Governor @ 85%: 2264

High Voltage just works better

I first tried the SetRPM mode on the CC ESC, as was quite impressed. Then, I tried the Gov HIGH mode, set up as per Finless Bob's method

http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=36194

I was less impressed. The solution I came across in Gov HIGH was less than the SetRPM gov mode, so I went back to SetRPM. I run 2075 RPM on a 14T (170T Main Gear). I'm running the last non-beta firmware, and am quite happy with the headspeed stability.

i actually went back down to a 14t pinion on mine and was running 15t for a while. i had the 15t so that the castle would be happy with set rpm at 2100.

im actually getting a decent amount lower temps running 2000 set rpm with the 14t. and to me 2000 on the head is pleanty of speed on my FBL setup.

Who cares... its just money...

thanks for all the input guys. i think i will keep mine set at 2100 for now as i did get a flight in today and it seems to perform quite well. Like i said i am still learning about the bigger electrics and their setup. My first electric was a 450 pro v3. Now all i need to do i think is work on my gov. gain.. witch scares me cause i hear stories of it not set right and you rip the main gear apart. LOL that would suck.

hotrod,

Hey man, I'm the dude that Rog was telling you about that my one way bearing will sometimes actually freeze up upon spool down. I'll pull it, re-grease it and it'll be "okay" for a few flights, but then, it'll start to lock up etc. If you get that boca one, let me know how it does. If it doesn't lock up, then I'll probably get one as well. Thx.

Chuck

P.S. I'm running one of those Scott Gray Reactor - X's (Version 1) on my T-REX 700 (Converted to Electric using Ray Nemovi's kit) and it can't be beat! I put the Reactor X on my 700 so that I could run my Futaba BLS 451 cyclic servos at 6.8V.

i will keep you posted on the out come of the boca bearing. I am going to install that as well as the KDE hub mod with a t700 164t main gear. Hey can i still use my 3S lipo on a reactor x, i don't know much about them. But i think i am going to get one every one seems to like them and i haven't herd any thing bad about them.
