DX8 - any issues remaining that have not been addressed?

Is there any way to tell if you are buying the new satellites or do they only come with the AR8000 receiver?

I would consider that a valid point Busher, except with all of my Rx, including this one, I have, for months now always initialized the Rx with TH mode engaged off my DX6i, without these kinds of issues. I dont know why the DX8 would make a difference in that at all. In fact, its just plain weird. Dont most heli pilots start out in TH mode??

most likely need to reduce the % on your TH hold setup screen - just a guess. I usually startup in normal mode then hit the th hold once it's all done initializing or just pickup the radio with my thumb on the collective. Probably safer to start off in th TH hold

Zaaaguy72, I am using the 22ms mode with 2 sats until they get the vbar thing figured out.

Cra-Z-1, Interesting videos. What ESC or BEC are you using? Are you able to put your receiver in another plane or heli to test it? Can you use a data logger and maybe a different receiver to see what it does? I had something similar to this happen with a DX7 and an AR 6100e. It happened right at the time I put a new fiberglass canopy on my 450. I thought it had to be the canopy causing interference because it was the only thing that changed. This resulted in 4 crashes and multiple replaced parts trying to figure out what was wrong. I even put an AR6200 with a satellite and still had the same problem! I had replaced absolutely everything in the heli by the end of it. The heli still had glitches that made it loose control. So I figured it had to be some kind of static build up. It was belt driven so I put some silicone on the tail, flew it again, and haven't had a problem since! So much for people telling me 450s don't have static problems. BTW, which heli is in the videos? I can't tell

These are Hobbywing 30A ESC's. I've been through a couple of them now. THis heli is a BlueRay PE 450. Nothing expensive here, thank god. I shelved my Main Align Heli right now, until I get the problem resolved.
About testing this Rx in other helis. I actually dont have to worry about that. Reason is, this problem has already destroyed my MD530 fuse, which also had a BlueRay PE frame, with Scorp 2221-10 motor, and Hobbywing 60A Esc. Right after the MD530 crash, I flew the Blueray that you see in these vids, and it crashed the very next flight too. The MD530 had months worth of flight time on it, with no problems, but what is interesting, is that I was flying an AR6200 with satellite in it.
My little E-Razor heli also smashed up, due to this, and that was with an AR6100e Rx. I have a AR6110e that the Tx wont bind with at all.

Well considering the info you have on board and the repeated problems on the field, and after watching your vids, I would send the radio in and ask for a thorough check out. Explain the problems and send the vids in with your explanation. I actually think you have a faulty TX as It seems to be happening with different setups and different receivers.
You appear to have tried out most options and I see the setup seems to be costing you dearly in models. You are right, in its present state I would not feel safe or happy flying it.

Good luck

Fly,

How did you get your TM1000 to bind with the Vbar and satellites at 22ms? I cant get mine to bind at 22ms with the TM1000 attached, it automatically changes to 11ms. If I disconnect the TM1000, I am able to bind at 22ms without the TM1000, but what is the purpose of Telemetry if I cant use it?

Could it be that your tm1000 is defective?

I have a couple extras, I will try that and let you know. The TM1000 binds and works great on 11ms, just not 22ms.

Yes it is definately costing me. This is crash number 7. This bird is getting quite a track record of being run into the ground. The only things that havent been changed are the ano. head stuff and the gyro.
I have sent this Tx in to Horizon already. I've only had it back since last Friday. I only got to exhaust my set of batteries once, before this happened again. They said there wasnt a problem, but did reprogram the "RF" board, and solder a cap. across the motor leads.
I'm hoping for a full replacement. I tried calling today...waited "forever" on hold, finally got tired of that, so I entered my call back number (suposedly I was supposed to have my place in line reserved). Never got a call back all the rest of the day.
I'm starting to wonder why so many ppl say that Horizon tech support is so awesome. Did I mention in this thread my unsoldered Rectifier bridge when I got my TX back from Horizon? I sure dont seem to be having the luck with them that alot of ppl do.

I have heard on the grapevine that not all satellites have the same programming I couldn't get to the bottom of it or have it explained to my satisfaction.

But the effects you are having seem to indicate that the new satellites that come with the ar8000 are different than the older type that came with AR7000 / ar6200 receivers. Now what I heard could be BS but it would explain a few probs that people are having. Have you tried the older satellites in comparison to the new satellites and got any conclusive results?

I hope it is BS as the new sattelite I have with my AR8000 looks almost identical packaging to all the others I have and it will make it difficult to spot the difference.

Good luck

When I replaced my 7000 with an 8000 after receiving my DX-8 I left the old satellite as it was mounted well. I had binding issues. When I replaced the satellite with the one that came with the 8000 bound immediately. Not sure if the electronics have changed, but the two are different physical dimensions. Also have nothing but great things to say about my interaction with John Adams.

Ar8000 using a new firmware on the satellite, you cannot bind an older satellite to an ar8000, but you can bind a new satellite to an old receiver so they are backward compatible.

Thats along the lines of what I had heard but it was not explained as clear as that. Thanks for sorting that out Mr MEL.

That is exactly what I saw. Tried to use the satellite on my R921 connected to the AR8000 it would not bind. Satellite was already mounted so I had to pull it off and put the AR8000 satellite.

Mine has just developed a very odd and potentially dangerous fault after a couple of months of faultless opperation. The rudder channel is twitching badly, and gets worst when pumping the collective up and down. This was not after an update, or after a knock or anything, the radio is mint still. I'm sending it back to Horizon tomorrow, hopefully they will sort is quickly.
I am having this same problem with the rudder channel freaking out from movement on the throttle stick. waiting to hear back from horizen
