I am finishing up my friends hawk 4. I am at the point of setting up the pitch last night when I have found that I cant get a positive pitch of more than an 8 without the elevator linkage arm topping out on the frame also I cannot get more than -7 with out the main shaft guide popping out of the guide pins. I have checked and re-checked all of the linkages to make sure that they are the correct length I even set the Hawk next my own to see if I could tell what is going on, I did the same with my Falcon as well. Anyone have this problem? It was getting kind of late so I just looked for any obvious problems and found none, It almost seems like the main shaft is too long but I will know more when I get back on it tonight. Jeff

Did you set up your links to the lengths listed in the manual? Can you take any pictures?

Thanks, John Cadwell

hawk pitch settings

Check the length of the elevator A-arm, from the outside of the pivot pin attachment to the top of the ball link that attaches to the swashplate. This should be about 61mm and the same measurement should be used on the aileron cyclic links from their bellcranks to the swashplate.

I understand from Century that some of the initial run of Hawk IV kits where mistakenly packed with the shorter elevator bellcrank (HI3032) from the Hawk III.

if so, notify them and they will sent you the longer unit at no charge.

Also the proper control rod lengths are available from the latest edition of the Hawk for manual on their site.

Thanks, I will check the bellcrank. I do know that the links are the correct length as per the manual b/c I checked them at least 5 times last night over and over...I will take a look at the site and see if they have a revision. Thanks Jeff

Make sure your manual is dated 12/01. The one before it has the wrong arm lengths. Howie

That is the old version. There is an update sheet that they have that will give you all the correct rod lengths. I also used the 3D lenghts to get all the pitch. Howie
