Hello,

We have received feedback that some of the ThrottleMax units in governor mode(Green LED)are exhibiting a head speed drop when collective is applied rapidly or when under a prolonged heavy cyclic load. The limiter side (Yellow LED) was not exhibiting this issue and has been working correctly.

We have been working with pilots to remedy this situation and I thank you guys for all the help and feedback.

We now have a update for the firmware to fix this issue.

We apologize for the inconvenience on this but if your TM is dropping head speed please send back just the black box to either HeliProz or Model Avionics.
The ThrottleMax is the newest unit that does not have any screws on the bottom plate.

As an option to avoid downtime during flying season you can use the limiter side with slightly exaggerated throttle curves and then send it to me when it is too crappy outside to fly :-)

On a brighter note, we also added to the coding that will control the new RevGlow remote glow driver. We should have the RevGlow ready by October.

No need to worry about an extra channel,a switch or a hot start.
As soon as the sensor sees engine rotation and your throttle is at low stick, it will power up the glow plug through the ThrottleMax ACC port for 20 seconds.
If your engine does not start in those 20 seconds(maybe forgot to undo the fuel clip), stop cranking for 2 seconds and repeat as necessary.
LED indicator for glow plug status.
Pricing should fall in the $30 range.

First version ThrottleMax's have glow driver coding for the RevGlow in them, but do NOT include the hot start protection.

Kurt, I could have used that no hot-start feature a few weeks back on my Trex 700.

I thought the Align 2 N 1 with the built-in glow driver was nice, but with the RevGlow, there's no button to have to push to turn on the juice, or to have to keep pushing when you've got a stubborn motor. Sounds great.

That's funny Dave, "me too". I should post a picture of what I did to my 700. I was having a problem with the G600 in there so I removed it and plugged the throttle servo directly into the RX. Too bad I hit Ch.5

Engine started instantly and in a few seconds the entire clutch liner was powdered, clutch sprung. <sigh> that clutch was running SO well.

I've had several TJ's and they've worked well for me. 700 is getting one of these. Hope to see the RevMax with the glowmax packaged together soon.

The fix to the Throttle Max SW works great. I like the RevGlow idea, almost so cool that no one's thought of it till now. And sounds darn simple to operate.

So easy, even a Caveman can do it.

Is the firmware update recent and is the problem only seen with a few so far? I bought a Throttle Max a few weeks ago and have not had any issues with mine that I know of, so I don't want to send it in unless I start having problems.

A recent update, available since IRCHA or so. Contact Kurt at Model Avionics, he will take care of you.

The first version of the ThrottleMAx that went out had a blue sticker.

New code version has a silver sticker with the Manual adjust hole plugged. All units at HeliProz and HeliWholesaler have new code as of Aug 9th.

Most people use them in limiter mode so we have not had very many reports on them. We do have a lot of people running in GOV mode and it is behaving fine. Easy answer is yes it is only a few, but when flying season winds down I would send it in if only just to have the new RevGlow code flashed.

Just want to post a thank you to Kurt for excellent customer service.

I cycled both my TM units back to him for this code update and got each back in less than a week. Great to see when someone freely owns up to an issue and takes care of it.

I've been running Throttle Jockey's and Rev Max's for years. Great governors and they have been super reliable. Small and light weight too.
